As I've pointed out elsewhere, the season is young enough that half of Ockimey's 14 walks came in two of his 16 games. If those two games had been rained out instead of played, he'd have half as many walks and there would basically be no improvement in his walk rate. I'm not trying to crap on him (I gave him a pretty huge bump in my personal rankings for 5/1), but I take so much more for what he's doing to the baseball (already 1/3 of the way to what the system's HR leaders had last year...) than for what he's doing when he's not swinging so far. This was my original point: his overall approach is encouraging, as he's hitting for power but maintaining a reasonable BA and very good OBP despite having an unsightly K rate near 30%. Jmei's point about walk rate is certainly defensible, but it was a bit of a tangent that focused on only one aspect of the picture. Certainly, all of those results are subject to change (he could suddenly stop walking and hitting for power, make a lot of contact and hit .220), because the sample is small. But I would argue that, since he is repeating the level, his current performance suggests improvement in his overall approach. Of course, with Chavis probably out 12 weeks (I'm presuming he'll have surgery), we'll have plenty more opportunity to hyperfocus on Ockimey and Washington.

Speier just tweeted that Chavis tore his left thumb ligament. Gonna get an MRI to see if surgery is needed. Really disappointing he was on fire this season. Alex Speier @alexspeier 5m5 minutes ago CORRECTION: Based on my misunderstanding of a source, I erroneously tweeted yesterday that Michael Chavis tore a ligament in his thumb. Alex Speier @alexspeier 4m4 minutes ago (Correction 2): Until the MRI is done, that diagnosis - still a possibility - is premature. For now, the injury is described as a sprain.

Most recent update by Alex Speier:
Michael Chavis, off to a tremendous start in Single A Greenville (.356/.415/.576), suffered a left thumb sprain on Thursday. Based on a miscommunication with a source, I erroneously (or at least prematurely) described the injury as a torn ligament on Twitter.
While that diagnosis has not been ruled out, an MRI will determine the severity of the injury, and whether Chavis will require surgery.

Ockimey is not repeating the level Good point, forgot he was at Lowell. Then again, even more reason to be encouraged. There are several members of the hot Drive team that are experiencing a level of pitching like they've never seen. There aren't many college division 1 players there.
