Hanley's lack of power in essentially what is about to be the past 12 months is kind of concerning. At least he's hitting this year, but that wRC is still horrendous. He could easily find his power stroke soon for all I know, but that can't come soon enough.
UZR is starting to turn on Shaw at 3B too.

Not sure how he MISSED the ball last night on the DP throw from Pedey. Just whiffed on it. I thought it was wide initially but the replay had it in the catchable range. Good think Rick got the next guy out on one pitch. Rutledge looked good @ 3rd.

When does the moratorium on arguing the value of the Kimbrel trade kick in? I know a lot of people who work in the State Department, so if we need someone to negotiate cease fire conditions, I can probably find someone.

Not mentioned too often...the Sox are stealing bases at a good clip and with great proficiency. Hopeful that success can be continued throughout the year.

I want a CG shutout tonight against this chump line-up.

April is April, but there are quite a few reasons for optimism so far ... Porcello and Wright look like they've really lengthened the rotation, Tazawa is as good as ever, Hembree may be one of those relievers who comes out of nowhere to be unhittable, Mookie is a superstar, Bogaerts is a star, Pedroia can still play defense, Hanley can now play defense, Shaw saved third base, Vazquez can really play, Koji is still unhittable. All of these were in some question before the season. And it looks like Price will be fine, Kimbrel, too.
I'm worried about the depth of the team with Castillo such a bust at this point and Sandoval being useless, the rotation doesn't have much depth if Kelly's seriously hurt, Hanley's lack of power is a little concerning, Koji's velocity keeps dropping, JBJ and Vazquez are potentially rough at the back of the lineup, Buchholz is always volatile, Shaw is still unproven ... and, who knows, maybe the faith in Price being fine is misplaced. And the team overall is still a mix of aging veterans who could falter and players still a little too young to feel totally confident about, a pretty combustable mix.
Overall, the positives outweigh the negatives to me so far. Buchholz and the lack of depth in the rotation are the most consequential worries for me. It will be great to get ERod back.

I know a lot of people who work in the State Department, so if we need someone to negotiate cease fire conditions, I can probably find someone. I'm fine not discussing it again before the end of the season, subject to the following conditions: - If and when Kimbrel blows a game, opponents of the trade are allowed to vent on the gameday thread (max two posts each).
- If and when Kimbrel has a particularly outstanding performance (especially in a game against a division/conference rival or in the playoffs), proponents of the trade are allowed to gloat in the gameday thread.
- Both proponents and opponents of the trade are allowed to post short, factual updates on the performance or prospect status of the prospects involved in the trade in the gameday thread; provided that such updates may not occur more often than once every two weeks.

I think CV is a great backup, a guy that catches certain starting pitchers who seem to do better with him catching. OK, sure, we can make CV the "backup" and have him only catch every start by Price, Buchholz, Porcello and E-Rod. I can live with that. I'm fine with that. That would make Swihart the incumbent starting catcher, the "man", Big Kahuna. He can catch Kelly or Owens each and every time they pitch.

Takes a lot longer for these things to stabilize.

Kelly in the pen and Owens in AAA once E-Rod comes back. Eric beat the drum for Wright all winter and it sure as hell looks like a good call.

I want to negotiate more frequent Margot-boosterism which would fall under Article 3. Addendum: I also think it is fair to discuss more regularly the impact of the apparent term of the trade that both Kimbrel and Margot grow awful beards.

I mean, no matter our feelings on the deal we can all agree that the beard aspect of it is a miserable failure and possibly in violation of the Geneva Convention, right?

As an Opponent of the trade, I would like to propose another addendum: said Opponents and Proponents should simply accept the gloating of the other side at the appropriate time with grace and humility and not counter with any form of argument that cursory or momentary variations in performance do not challenge the underlying superiority of their view on the trade. Other than that, I'm fine with jmei representing us in further negotiations and end with a plea to Proponents to enter into these discussions in good faith; we don't want continued fighting and all the refugees and displacement that may cause.

Kimbrel looks like such a hipster, that picture basically started singing LCD Soundsystem at me.

Still find it incredible we talk about older players faltering and David Ortiz wasn't mentioned. What a legendary player.

Alex Speier @alexspeier 1h1 hour ago Is Rick Porcello a No. 3 starter? A No. 2? That can only be answered by knowing what a No. 2 or 3 starter is Alex is single handedly flattening the bell.

He jumps on the negativity bandwagon quickly.

Speaking of Cafardo, he got some great perspectives from Tom Glavine: “He threw the ball well,” Glavine said. “Reading a few things about him coming into this, it seems as though he started to figure things out when he came back from the disabled list last year. I know he wasn’t thrilled about his spring training or the way he started. It seems like he was searching for something — whether it was release point or whatever. It sure seems like he’s found it. He was attacking the strike zone with three good pitches. He was fun to watch.”
Glavine said Porcello, who is now 4-0 with a 3.51 ERA, “threw a lot of two-seamers. Looked like he kept guys honest in. When you have that changeup and slider, you can throw it in fastball counts. It makes it tough to sit on one pitch. He really pitched tonight. He really thought about his pitch sequence and the setup to hitters. All of that is very important and he had Braves hitters off balance.” www.bostonglobe.com/sports/redsox/2016/04/25/tom-glavine-liked-what-saw-from-pitchers-duel/7KQrQOqvbbjAwcMyMm0RaJ/story.html?event=event25?event=event25
