I'll be at the PawSox game. Going with the family so there won't be live updates or anything but I'll have some abbreviated notes when I get back later.

Mike Antonellis @seadogsradio 23m23 minutes ago Carson Smith will pitch in relief for Portland today. . . . Swihart in left. Lin at second. . . Witte has gone somewhat unnoticed but he's done well before and after the promotion.

If you have MLB tv, can you see MiLB games specially the Greenville game today?

There's a separate MiLB.tv subscription you need to get for minor league games.

Jose Vinicio went 836 PA between homers Huh, that's funny, I seem to remember someone here telling me he'd turned a corner because he hit well for like a 6 game stretch and the chances of that being random, well, I don't even need to say..

Huh. Maybe I'll head to Lakewood today. Looks like Neo's dealing. Looks good. 2nd inning was some bad luck and self-inflicted harm (wild pitch and bad throw on a play at the plate.)

Did Lakewood just have a 6 error inning?
edit: looks like it was only 3

Guess we can put the early promotion thoughts to rest on Espinoza.

Seems like Espinoza was really off with his control today, especially in the 4th inning when everything came unraveled. He gave up a leadoff single - the only hit he allowed that inning (two of the other three hits he allowed were ground balls) - and followed it with K, HBP, BB, HBP, K, BB to end his outing. All runners would come around to score off Victor Diaz.

Seems Espinoza's control has declined each start. And I remember discussion of a velocity drop a little while back... I'm a little worried. I'm hoping the stats contradict me - anyone want to put my fears to bed, please?

I'm hoping the stats contradict me - anyone want to put my fears to bed, please? He's 18. This might have been a good learning experience since it wasn't that he was getting hit hard. The velocity drop was 2 seamer 4 seamer stuff. We had a live report from the game after which gave consistent velocities with 2/4 seamers.

Carson Smith pitched one inning, 9P 6S 1K. It will be interesting to see who goes back down when the Sox go to Chicago.

Travis Lakins had another good game. Ockimey's consistently getting walks.

Travis Lakins had another good game. Ockimey's consistently getting walks. I was at the game tonight. Lakins looked really good, he commanded the fastball well and I was very impressed with his offspeed pitches, specifically his curveball. Lot of swings and misses/weak contact on it. Moncada went hitless but he hit the ball really hard, a bit unlucky tonight. Benintendi is legit, his strikezone awareness is off the charts, he doesn't get fooled and won't swing at anything outside the zone. Devers makes really loud contact, the RBI single he had was pretty clutch...I still think he needs more polishing but I definitely can see why he is rated so highly. Dubon had a couple nice hits, although he had an ugly strikeout in his last AB...he played good defense at SS and I think he will find some level of success in the majors someday even if it's just as a utility IF (even though he is undersized atm). Longhi had a couple base hits, the double he hit was an absolute rocket to RCF. I think on a humid summer night there would have been a couple home runs, but there was a cool breeze blowing towards home plate which made a lot of hard hit fly balls easy outs. Great defense by both teams, minus one misplay on a flyball by Jeffrey Baez which should have been ruled an error.

Travis Lakins had another good game. Ockimey's consistently getting walks. And Washington hit his 6th HR taking over the system lead from an Ockimey tie. As I've said before, the Drive are a lot better than the general pre-season impression (straw man, I know). Matheny has been impressive with general stuff. His game is solid. Johnson and Elias should both be fully stretched out after their next starts. Haley with a very solid outing today. It would be nice to see him climb back on board.
