The Sox have already found a workaround for the lack of influx of latin roster fillers for their DSL teams. Just sign Puerto Rican UDFAs who they can send to the DSL. Already happened with Ivan Houellemont and Alexander Martinez. www.soxprospects.com/dh.htm

Lourdes is still 22, so the Sox cannot sign him (But is open to sign with anyone, including the Sox, if he waits until his October 19 birthday to sign).

Before anyone asks, the fact that Gurriel will turn 23 before he signs is what allows the Red Sox to sign him despite the ban. He'll fall into a different bucket, so to speak.

One how serious are the sox with this guy? Just kicking the tires? How much will it take to sign him? Moncada type money?

I'm sure it's been answered but is will the Sox be back on equal footing with the international free agents July 1 of 2017?

We've read the same reporting you have, so no idea on the seriousness, but why wouldn't they be? It's not like they've got other money tied up in IFAs right now. As for how much, who knows? It wouldn't surprise me if we saw something of a market correction on Cuban IFAs after the way some of them have flopped recently like Castillo, Hector Olivera, and others. I'm sure it's been answered but is will the Sox be back on equal footing with the international free agents July 1 of 2017? In theory, yes. As mentioned, it could be a completely different system by then as well with a new CBA in place.

You guys have a lot more experience with this type of thing and I learn new sources for info every day from you. I guess both questions fold back into one. The money. Kicking the tires would be they are trying to find out how much it would take to sign him and look at him up close to gage how good he is. The seriousness would then be, example, for a couple of mil very serious. For Castillo type money, maybe, based on what has happened so far with castillo. Or is it moncada money, and then maybe not so serious. Just wondering what kind of money the guy is looking for.
