I'm at the game tonight so I apologize to JBJ in advance Go to more games please? The atmosphere must be electric at Fenway....I haven't been to a game in a couple years since they were in last place, not much to be excited about then. This year's team is legit though, not many holes in this lineup. Price is now 7-1 with a QS his last 3 outings and leading the AL in strikeouts. It's good to have an ace again. Thank you Dustin Pedroia. Yeah I have to say that the vibe is pretty electric compared to recent years. I've been to a few games so far and the difference between even April and now is noticeable.

Wake me up when JBJ gets past 40. Then and only then will I even comment on the hit streak. It seems like this has been going on forever -- and he's now halfway to Joe D. This is one of those records that just seems unassailable. Interestingly, I saw a comment somewhere yesterday that so far in his streak JBJ has been more productive than Joe D was in the first half of his streak.
Also, I remember reading somewhere that during the time Joe D. was compiling his streak Teddy Ballgame actually outhit him by quite a bit during the same calendar period. In a certain sense, the guy who may fly under the radar here is X, until JBJ's streak ends at least. X is equally capable of hitting consistently, he's drafting in the shadow of JBJ right now so there's no focus on him, AND he has Papi hitting behind him. On the surface, if I had to pick someone to give Joe D.'s record a go, it would be X. I'm pretty sure that when you adjust for league offense, no one in the history of MLB has had a streak both longer and more productive. I may look into it in detail at some later point.

So could Sam Travis be called up for a cup of coffee out of general need?
Hanley is day to day. Shaw is dealing with a hand issue. No one else on the roster can play 1B.
Well Ortiz can but let's not go down that road...
That and the fact that Marco Hernandez is rotting on the bench. Sam Travis can also be a good pinch hitter until the Sox can recall a guy like Marco back to the big leagues.

Lyons was called psycho for a reason. Remember when he dropped his pants standing on second to dust off, then realized that 35,000 people in the stands were staring at him with his pants down?
Yes, he sucks in the booth. I'd much rather see/hear Eck there. He gives good insight in the game, especially from a pitcher's point of view. I think he's better than Remy.
Raise your hand if you'd rather see Eck. "There's one, there's two, oh, another way in the back..."

Speaking of LYons, It is pretty obvious they are edging out Remy, he doesn't do road games and they did a three man booth last night. The restaurant they do the baseball show is Tony'cs now. I thought he did a good thing when he got Clemens to talk about Price one night . Clemens actually was interesting breaking down Price the before and after. The tilt and so forth in the delivery.
The restaurant has nothing to do with the Nesn job but it's just unfortunate.

Not sure of Bettis' splits, but as a RHP I can see Hanley sitting tonight. Saw him wincing quite a bit on that run from 1st to 3rd. I'm sure that big toe looks like a plum today. It's a shame Shaw can't buy a day off with his hand issue.

I think there's some potential in a three-man crew, but the third man can't be Steve Lyons. Just going on and on about how "all second baseman like the danger of someone coming at them on the double play" is just dumb. The guy has a delivery like he's giving the hottest of hot takes, but what he's saying is just boring. He's unlistenable for me.
Now, OB, Remy, and Eck might be good to listen to. OB, Remy, and Clemens was great. Remy's ok when he's not giggling, but he just doesn't offer much in the way of deep knowledge. If you paired him and O'Brien with a former player who can say interesting, highly technical things for the more knowledgable fans, that'd be a good crew, I think.

Yeah, you need one Belichick and one Rex Ryan in the booth if you're gonna do three people.

If Jesse Ventura can get elected, so can Bill Lee And Bill Lee may be crazy, but he isn't stupid. Like Ventura, he might make a perfectly fine Governor.

Haha. Can't remember who that was but he was giving us those stats in spring training games. I think when the team is struggling and losing a lot of one run games those types of stats get scrutinized. The good news with this edition is that they're not a station to station team and they get a lot (at least I think they do) of hits to right field which makes advancing an extra base easier. They have both power and good baserunning skills. That, and an uncanny ability to string hits together will allow you to maximize your run scoring opportunities. I've been a fan for 35 years and this offense rivals the 2003 lineup for the best Red Sox lineup I've seen.
