Jose Vinicio up to AAA for the first time. Allen Craig placed back on the DL.
EDIT: Vinicio starting at 2B, batting ninth.

This is a question that you guys may not know the answer to but do you think the Paw Sox will go with Henry Owens on Thursday or Mike McCarthy? Just curious because I'm going to the game.

My man Keith Couch with 6 solid innings before coming undone in the 7th. More importantly, Benintendi got a hit. If some pitchers can have personal catchers, why can't hitters have personal pitchers? (:

Lakins with a nice outing: 6IP 4H 1R 0BB 6K
also...not sure if anyone is noticing what Ben Taylor is doing in his piggyback role in Salem this year. Tonight: 3IP 1H 0R 0BB 5K On the season he has a 0.97 WHIP with 33 Ks in 32 innings (while averaging just over 3IP per appearance).

Brief notes from the Salem game
Lakins looked spectacular. Fastball went wherever he wanted, curve was tight and pinpoint as well. Barely missed the zone.
Devers made a couple sensational plays at 3B, one on a short hop, one sliding to his left, and then one charging in and barehanding it to get a quick guy at 1B. His bat looks like he's pressing, though this is the first time I've seen him this year and his BP sessions are still very impressive
I was really impressed with Lakins, though my expectations were very low given his first couple starts in May. Moncada looked solid, nothing stood out tonight, never had a chance to use any of his speed and didn't get much to hit.
Taylor looked good, worked at a good pace, kept Potomac's guys off balance throughout the outing.
Biggest takeaway from the game was Devers' defense. Wasn't expecting it, and it's the best I've seen at 3B in the CAR league this season

He (Taylor) pitched a game or two on NESN last year and I thought he was pretty good. Nice delivery and a curveball that played pretty well off his fastball. Could be a good relief option.

Joseph Monge with a 4 for 5,1 HR night, for The Drive. Now up to .338 in his second season in Greenville. He is not yet ranked in the SP top 60.

I could be wrong regarding Eddie's start, but isn't Lehigh Valley (Phillies) loaded with prospects, or have some of them graduated to the big club? I know the end of last year they were stacked.

The new Rodriguez delivery is interesting. Starting in a stretch-type position, just like Price does. Looks like he's a bit different after that (he steps back, while Price kind of taps his foot and closes his shoulder), but I wonder if there's a connection, if Price said something or Rodriguez just saw something he liked in it.

So I kind of which your speculation is true

I think there's an attitude about Devers that he's kind of a lumbering, non-athletic, bat-only guy who is likely to move to first. But I was impressed by his athleticism. He ain't cut like Moncada, but he's a much better athlete than I expected to see. He moves well at third, and he's not bad running the bases, either.

I can't remember who, but last season, someone likened his defensive progression to that of Pablo Sandoval (before things got bad).
