We might see Buchholz back in the rotation sooner rather than later

No streak is safe, and after JBJ's hit streak, Kelly's win streak might be the next to snap ... even though he's been pitching well. Jinxed him, that was a meatball.

The Clay situation is sad. He's clearly being kept for depth. He'd choose free agency over going down. If he had trade value he'd be gone. Have to hope Erod's knee is good to go.

Hanley swings at a 3-0 pitch down by his ankles and then promptly grounds into an inning ending DP a few pitches later.
Not like the hottest hitter in baseball was on deck or anything

Seriously though, it's time to send a message to that scumbag Donaldson.

Uehara is concerning me. With Smith gone, suddenly this BP is not as deep as I thought.

Man that Hanley 3-0 green light swing hurts even more now. Should have been JBJ up 1 out man on 1st/2nd with Ortiz probably hitting for Hernandez.

Donaldson scares the **** out of me every time he comes up. The guy tapped that ball out of the ballpark on a real late swing. He's got to get hit tomorrow. Too comfortable up there against us

So it's cool for Blue Jay fans to all blink their phones when the Red Sox bat?

Lawrie, Graveman, Nolin and Baretto for that guy. Unreal. Of the two GM's involved, one is still working for his team and one isn't.

This game kind of underscores my concerns with this team going forward.
Uehara has thrown a lot more splitters (my evidence is anecdotal) that seem to be hanging this year.
I'm concerned as the season goes on he might not be as lockdown as we'd want an 8th inning guy to be.
Tazawa has been lockdown, but I do worry about him eventually getting overworked. While Barnes has pitched well and Ross, in theory, should pitch well in high leverage situations (we'll never know because Farrell will never test out that theory), I really think the Sox could use a solid setup man come July 31st, whether it's a rental or a long-term solution (given the cost of a long-term solution, I'd prefer a rental), they'll probably have to make a move.
Of course another big concern is if Joe Kelly is going to continue to be inconsistent, that means you wouldn't want to start him in a post-season game.
If E-Rod comes back healthy and effective, that's no problem, but that's a huge IF.
My gut tells me that E-Rod will struggle because as long as his knee has problems it will affect (whether it's directly or indirectly related) his fastball velocity.
And if he struggles that means you only really have 3 starters you'd want to start a playoff game. They'd need one more, whether it's a solid #3/4 type or a really hard to obtain #2 type (while the latter is preferable the former is more likely). Makes me wonder what Billy Beane would try to extract from Dombrowski for Rich Hill.
Really it's going to come down to E-Rod. How effective he will be will determine if the Sox need to get another starter.
And I think it's going to be obvious (maybe it's not now) that the Sox will need another quality arm in the pen as time goes on. I think Uehara will have times where he struggles and is quite hittable, and by year's end it will be a no-brainer not to sign him for next year (it pains me to say that given that I'm a big Uehara fan and will always appreciate him for 2013.)

Frustrating game to watch. That one out bases loaded squander seemed to be the statistical point of no return, at a glance. Turns out it was actually Donaldson. Both times. Reminds me of Longoria in when he literally was the difference maker in games against Boston in 08. Although I believe Donaldson does this to more teams than Boston with frequencey, too, but, just for the record, before this game he was .321/.387/.679/ 1.066 ops over 32 plate appearances vs the Sox.
317/.401/.528 against Boston between 2013-15,too. Just a beast. Don't feed it.

Koji looking very hittable. He is losing movement and the location is getting spotty at best.

According to MLB Gameday, Uehara threw 6 fastballs (85-87) (including the gopher pitch) and just one splitter to Donaldson. Not sure what that portends, but seems wrong.
