Barnes is becoming a good pitcher. Kudos to sox for sticking with him during the rough period.

Tremendous effort by Porcello. Agree. Pitched better than the results he got.

This offense is relentless. That with a relatively weak left field, the position that is traditionally the strongest for the Red Sox.

Back in the day, taking third in this situation would not have gone over well.

I think he's answered the power thing. If he does reach 20 HRs, and hit .330+ with a .900 OPS, all within reach, how valuable is that? You forgot to mentioned the base running. Not just the steals, but plays like taking second on the bubble right there. There's a lot of stuff I didn't mention. It's a long list for this guy. He's now at .353 / .405 / .522 with a wRC+ of 154. It's amazing how quickly he went from best prospect in memory and future superstar, to very promising young player who is excellent and maybe will be a superstar after all some day, to ... superstar. After today he may be on a 9.0 WAR pace. And it's not like he looks surreally locked-in at the plate, like JBJ has. He just does his thing, taking what they throw him and translating it into hits about as best as you can imagine. And yes, that includes turning on inside pitches exactly like folks were speculating last September.

This offense is relentless. That with a relatively weak left field, the position that is traditionally the strongest for the Red Sox. Someone else mentioned it in another thread but I think it bears repeating. That the traditional "defensive spectrum" is totally muddled up these days. All the shortstops are hitting bombs and the left fielders aren't sluggers anymore. Not that we shouldn't look for a big bat in LF. But the supply of good bats doesn't seem to inversely correlate with the defensive spectrum the way it used to. Back in the day, taking third in this situation would not have gone over well. Remember when this was good old baseball? Not Vlad impaling the runner, what happened after it.

Unthinkable that you would hit Michael Saunders to start the inning. Just bad baseball.

Have I mentioned that I don't like umpires?

What the hell is with Farrell's refusal to ever use Robbie Ross...guy's rocking a 2.62 FIP and can't get into any close game. Hope Tazawa's not too tired today.

Team needs relief help via trade. Enough fringe guys in the minors to find a specialist or 7th inning arm

Just unthinkable that Layne hits a batter to start the inning. Just unthinkable.

This team is resilient. I cant help but still be in 14'/15' 1918-2003 mode where i assume once things start going wrong, they wont be coming back. FTFY

Tommy Layne is just a guy who should not be allowed in a game after the 6th inning. He's the absolute worst.
And Christian Vasquez is not a major league catcher.

This inning is a perfect example of why the Carson Smith injury is so bad for the team.

Christian Vasquez is an complete joker of a catcher. An all-glove catcher needs to catch that ball.

Also, haveing a great offense is fantastic but it would be nice to have pitching that necessitates 7 or 8 runs a game is sub optimal.

This inning is a dumpster fire. Dare I say it, but is Buchholz the answer in the pen?

Just unthinkable that Layne hits a batter to start the inning. Just unthinkable. Yeah. Not to let X off easy for the error but you're on the roster to do one thing and one thing only. And you can't even do that right. Come on man.
