The Angels are 32-47 with a -49 run differential (only Minnesota's is worse in the AL) What a waste

This is the third series from the "weak teams" in the Sox schedule during the last two weeks. The Sox lost the other two series (White Sox, Rays). That needs to change or they will become one of the weak in other teams' schedules. Again.

Toronto's getting ready to pass us. Baltimore has been beating some bad teams as we should be. Time to nut up.

I want none of Moore. He's a big name with little to no track record of MLB success peripheral wise. I wouldn't even give Kopech up for him, and he'd cost more than that.

Can we force shoemaker to stay in Boston after the series is over?

Can we force shoemaker to stay in Boston after the series is over? Maybe, if Sox go awl in.

I'm actually pretty optimistic about Kopech's projection. Big FB, two other good pitches and a big, strong guy. If he could square the maturity issues I think he could have a ceiling as a #2 type starter or even a touch better.

It would be nice to pick up another proven pitcher but then we maybe get into a situation like the Peavy / Iglesias / Montas trade. We gave up a lot for a proven guy, who ended up serving a function for us but not doing all that great. The cost of top starting pitching is so high I don't even want to go there. I'd rather hope that we can get into the playoffs with what we have and hopefully someone like Kelly, Owens, Buchholz, Johnson etc.. can at least be acceptable 4 or 5 slot pitchers. Price, Porcello and Wright are not a bad base. We just need to get one or 2 more guys to produce and we are in the playoffs.
It's just too expensive to trade for top starters. We are going to pay like crazy to get one probably. I hate doing that!

If they split the first two games (or loose them both) I think Porcello pitches Sunday & they wait until Tuesday to add a 5th Starter. If they win the first two I think we just might see Wilkerson or Haley called up to pitch on Sunday.
If they do add Wilkerson or Haley who gets removed from the 40 Man Roster? Sean Coyle? I don't think there is anyone to move to the 60 Day DL. (Swihart, Johnson)?
Hannigan & Holt back today? If so what do they do with Leon? (I believe he is out of options). Is it possible they send Vazquez down?

What's the odds Pedroia moves the runner (without getting a hit) here?

No, you can credit Mookie Betts for hitting a double

I'd really like to see Mookie step it up this homestand; he's still the best player on this team; he's been good, but he can be better.
