All right everyone, relax - I'm officially bringing back the reverse jinx. Damn. We have been slacking on this in 2016.

Great job by Clay keeping this one in check. Hopefully that's our last memory of him.

Farrell not letting Pedroia get ejected and potentially getting himself suspended is the best thing he's done all year.

Wow!!! On a different note, I didn't realize but Mookie is basically Mike Trout - 30 walks: Mookie: .305/.347/.534 21 HR / 17 SB Trout: .313/.425/.543 19 HR / 17 SB And the BABIP: .316 vs. .356 And center field vs. right field.

I hear Farrell dove into shark-infested waters to rescue Pedey earlier? Or something along those lines?

NESN just showed Farrell's ejection and it is possible he will be hearing from Torre after poking HP umpire in the chest, accident or not.

Garbage umpire and an even worse human being.

Great job by Clay keeping this one in check. Hopefully that's our last memory of him. I actually don't mind him in this role. We have a few guys in the rotation who are more likely to give you five or six rather than getting deep into the game. If he can effectively piggyback once or twice a week and take it the rest of the distance, he can help preserve this pen down the stretch - we have a couple of guys out there who fade if overused.

This -- IF Buchholz can warm to the role. It's a comedown, to be sure, but with the Sox seemingly having a couple of short-inning starts almost every time through the rotation and a bullpen that has lost the entire back end and now includes several 1 inning or less guys and a couple of fragile guys, a guy like Buchholz could be extremely valuable for the near and longer term. You don't figure to get much for him in trade anyway, so why not see if he can do it?

Great job by Farrell today, contrary to most here it's going to be a sad day for me when he's finally fired.

Looks like Clay has been working with Bannister on some things. I wonder if it will help.
Alex Speier @alexspeier 2m2 minutes ago Buchholz said his arm slot had fallen gradually since '13. He looked at data w/Bannister to adjust release point close to where it had been.

Great job by Farrell today, contrary to most here it's going to be a sad day for me when he's finally fired. Isn't it kind of sad that his greatest managerial accolade this season is protecting his player (part of his job)? I mean you're congratulating him for a game that he managed 5 innings of.

No more damage and that's what you'd like to see. Love that swing by Bogaerts. He had a 4:00 o'clock tee time and he made it happen. Can't give up on the game, ever.

Wow! What a game.
Great to see the sox pull this one out.
Hopefully this game starts the hitting explosion, especially from the the bottom half of the lineup.

Mookie is a top 5 position player in all of baseball. Xander and Jackie not too far behind, either And he's doing it hurt. We may be looking at a 35 HR lead off guy....who can also hit for average, play defense and run the bases. Trust me, the walks will come. Edited to 35 HR. I could see his defensive value and base running value actually go up if he were healthy. As right fielders go he should be right up there near the top.

That's not his greatest managerial accolade, just a nice moment. This isn't another instance of the reverse jinx, is it? Sadly no, I can't see how Farrell survives this season unless he wins a title. Which may please a lot of people but not me, I'm a legit fan. Can't pass on a chance to praise him when seemingly everyone else doesn't when it comes to criticizing him.

And Farrell's alleged replacement let the weak hitting Hanigan bat against a right hander in the eighth with Travis and Sandy available.
