Nick Cafardo, in his Sunday Globe, reported on a phone interview he had with the Washington GM Rizzo. In the interview Rizzo mentions that he personally signed Leon as a 16 1/2 year old in Venezuela. "He was a good catch-and-throw kid...and what a kid he was. He is one of the greatest young men I've ever met."

The big thing that jumps out at me regarding the two Leon stances is how far apart his feet were in the earlier stance, with his legs bowed out and his knees locked in an inward flex. How in the world could he have ever gotten any weight transfer out of such a stance? MY ankles hurt looking at that stance. Unless he did something unimaginable during his swing, his old stance had him literally planted into the ground.
Does anyone have any information on exactly when his stance changed relative to his metamorphosis?
That's his old batting stance. The new one is the one on the left.
Can't get anything by me. Thanks.

Leon at 7.0 bWAR + Framing WAR per 120 games. For comparison, CV was 6.2 two years ago.
This year, Holaday's at -1.9 and Hanigan at -5.1, while CV is at 0.6. No question who should be the other catcher starting 9/1.

Reminds me of the Twins' philosophy of staying planted, no stride, increase contact but at a loss of power and hurts some guys' timing.
