DD: "Hey look another crappy pitcher, you guys should kill him."
Team: "Don't tell us how to live our lives."

That ball 3 call Clay had a little bit ago just is still bewildering to me. It was straight down the pipe.

As much as I love talking about how Farrell has no clue what he's doing, I dont think today's lineup is really that big of a deal. He's resting the vets with this weird hitch in the schedule. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt here and assume he doesn't have a ton to work with. Was surprised to see Marco sent down with Deven staying up, and moreso with him getting a start today. So the schedule dictated that Hill must bat lead-off and Benintendi is behind Holaday and Marrero? I see.

Clay is going to get destroyed eventually with this contact driven approach. But I'm glad it's somehow going well lately.

My name is Manfred, and I am a Buchholic.
I have been raging about him for 2-3 years, desperate to trade him away. Earlier this season, would've taken a bag of balls and a fungo. But god help me, watching him days like this, I find myself thinking, "maybe they should exercise his option." Please, someone send help.

The other interesting thing on the lineup side is that with all the mixing and matching today, Holt isn't in the lineup. He's usually the guy you think of plugging in somewhere when someone needs rest or you're playing on short turnaround. Which is another proof that JF was simply looking for a RH bat -- any RH bat -- to put in the lineup today.
You stat buffs with your access to databases: Has there EVER been anything coming out of nowhere like what Sandy Leon has done this year? He's like more than you could ever imagine Sandoval to be, even if Panda lost 50 lbs.

Remind me again of why the Sox just kinda...let Alex Wilson, you know...leave. For nothin'. When their bullpen was (and still kinda is) a mess?

That Hanley liner up the middle is exactly why many teams play a middle infielder by second base when he hits. Detroit didn't and it worked for us.
Also, damn it Hanley.

Wow Sandy scared a pitcher into throwing a ball to the backstop. Kind of like how Kopech scares batters into stone!

Uh, the Red Sox didn't let Wilson leave for nothing, he was part of the Cespedes-for-Porcello trade. And I think he was considered a throw-in by most. At the time, he looked like a guy who might knock around for a little while as a fungible middle reliever. He's substantially outperformed expectations.

I'd completely forgotten that...and somehow convinced myself he wasn't offered arb. Which wouldn't have made sense anyway, because he didn't have enough service time. Thanks, I feel better now.

8.86 FIP in the second half gets you in before Ziegler and Barnes.

Please someone defend our manager for putting in a completely broken reliever, after a day off for the entire bullpen, in the 8th inning of a 2 run game. I'm all ears.
