Another reason to bat Holt 9 is that he had the lowest OBP of any of those guys this year. Less risk of the famed Pedey GIDP.

2B Dustin Pedroia (R) 3B Brock Holt (L) RF Mookie Betts (R) DH David Ortiz (L) 1B Hanley Ramirez (R) SS Xander Bogaerts (R) CF Jackie Bradley (L) C Sandy Leon (S) LF A. Benintendi (L) Pathetic. Just to be clear - pathetic that Holt must bat second, not the quality of this great lineup itself. Yeah I don't get it either. Why must Farrell manage by images? Holt is that scrappy #2 hitter who can bunt and hit behind the runners. C'mon. He's been terrible this year and he's the guy who gets the extra AB and gets to break up the momentum between Pedroia, Betts, and Ortiz. If he wanted to break up the all righties and then all lefties type lineup, why couldn't he have gotten brave and put in a rookie who hasn't been overwhelmed all year? You switch Benintendi with Holt and you got yourself a well set up lineup. I'm cool with Benintendi getting that 5th AB, but Holt? No. He might as well have kept Bogaerts second if he was too skittish about batting Benintendi second. I guess Farrell doesn't want to put too much pressure on Benny? But, i'm with you and i would bat him 2nd.

Oh man, batting Holt second is just inexcusable. Regardless, I'm super excited for the series, and will be happy for Tito/Nap and co if they scrap out the series, so its a win-win.

I have no qualms with the rest of the lineup, but Benny and Holt should be flipped. Now, Holt was still competent against RHP's this season so it's not like we have a black hole there, but just frustrating. Oh well.

This is the kind of stuff a manager gets away with when Dombrowski is your GM. It's enraging.

I wouldn't say it's quite win/win for me, as I'm never happy to see the Red Sox lose. That being said, if they lose, the Indians are the team I'm cheering for for the rest of the postseason.

Bauer has blown three pitches by Betts. Wow. I haven't seen that often.
