One positive no matter how you fall on this trade - no throwback unis for the next 3 years.

Sale, Price, Porcello, E-Rod, Pomeranz. Whither Wright? Trade chip?

If the two other prospects are immaterial, I'm fine with this. If they're significant prospects (Devers or Groome), that becomes more of a problem. Speier saying Swihart may be one. I am fine with that.

So they kept Devers and Groome. They have to the are the same as Kopech and Moncada. So Swihart they soured on him also. The fourth one probably someone in low level. Maybe Okimey?

I didn't want this trade to happen because Sale worries me injury wise, but this is a fair deal at the end of the day. Kopech isn't a lock as a starter even though I think he's the next Glasnow type of prospect. And Moncada may be a star eventually, but Sale is now, and I didn't want to see Benny go.
Tons of pressure to win a WS the next few years now.

How did the prospects Dombrowski traded for Miggy and Scherzer turn out? Andrew Miller turned out good 7 years later or whatever

While this is a high price, It's about what I expected to get Sale. He's a ace on a great deal, he's gonna cost alot. We'll see who the other two are before I call it a fair deal thou.
Sale, Price, and Porcello is a great top 3 to have. This also says to me that they're high on Devers at 3rd if they're trading Moncada

On the bright side, the rotation is now as dominant as you can get. 4 lefties though, that could be a problem.

I want people to feel better our roster is not old veterans there young. If we hold onto Devers, Groome, Don't forget Dalbec, those young bullpen arms they drafted

Tons of pressure to win a WS the next few years now. Was just thinking the same thing. Pretty much a "Mets" style all-star rotation right now. With two Cy Young winners and now Sale who has been in the top five in Cy Young voting every year of his career. Don't like this deal much though, assuming nothing major happened with Moncada. I just can't wrap my head around picking Devers over him, ultimately.

Time to beg Ortiz to come back for one more year? Gonna have gaping holes at DH and third

I love this f'n trade. I never liked Moncada's numbers from Cuba as he never hit over 300. He didn't hit over 300 at any level of the minors and that tells me he would never do so at the MLB level.
I will wait till I hear the other two pieces before truly throwing my support behind this but my initial reaction is fk yeah! We just got the best pitcher in MLB in his prime with a young core of players in the field. Dave isn't scared to bring up the guys he likes and trade the ones with value he doesn't... it's a new philosophy but one I can get used to if we can maintain a balance. If you gut your system you do it for one of the best at the position... so kudos!

Come on it's Dombrowski; it'll be Devers at least, maybe Groome as well.

Moncada must have been a pain to coach and they didn't feel it would get better. Obviously he's a great physical talent. As long as Sale checks out medically (elbow) you have to go with it.

If Swihart is part of the deal I'm going to be a bit disappointed. They butchered his value this season, and to have him as the third piece in any deal is pretty rough. I still think he's going to be a very, very good player.
EDIT: Nightengale tweeted that he wasn't involved. I am glad for that.
Still evaluating how I feel about this deal. Feels risky to me, but needing Moncada to get Sale isn't crazy, and I'd been advocating selling high on Kopech.

Burn, baby, burn.
Each trade can make sense on its own and collectively be all wrong.

It's like some people would expect to acquire Sale for a few B prospects.

Really interested in seeing who the other two prospects are.
I imagine Basabe is one of them.
