Pool A: Seoul Israel, Korea, Chinese Taipei, Netherlands Netherlands and one of the Asian teams should advance Israel is in Asia, so good call!

I'd put my money on Japan and Israel in the next round.

I'd put my money on Japan and Israel in the next round. I'd put my money on Japan and Cuba. Though Josh Zeid looked pretty good.

I learned yesterday that a friend of mine was on the selection committee for the Israel team. Needless to say, he was walking on air.

Team USA tore Ryan Dempster to pieces. He went 1/3 of an inning, giving up two hits, two ER, 3BB, and left with the bases loaded.
I thought it was cool to see him on Canada's roster, but honestly, did anyone think he could contribute any (on the field) value? Dempster looked like exactly what he is, a 39 year old who hasn't pitched in over 3 years.

It's not like as if he's getting paid or that Canada likely had better alternatives. If this was hockey, you'd be drooling.

Wow. WBC really screwed up with the tiebreaker rules in pool D. I thought runs allowed per def inning instead of something like run diff was weird, and now I really wouldn't be surprised if they look at changing the tiebreaker before the next classic.
Opinions on the rule aside, this situation was really screwed up in that everyone, including WBC officials and the broadcast thought Mexico was advancing to the tiebreak game.

It's official, Eduardo Rodriguez won't be joining the WBC. Thank the lord.

It's official, Eduardo Rodriguez won't be joining the WBC. Thank the lord. The Sox made the decision yesterday for Eduardo Rodriguez after the knee injury this winter apparently. Good on the Sox.

Why isn't Trout playing? It would likely be the most meaningful games he plays until he leaves the Angels.

Did you see that play by Lindor? (yes, I know McCutcheon beat it out); that's as good of a play by a SS going to his right as I've ever seen
