There's a lot to unpack with the whole Eck-Price thing, some of it is basic surface-level and other based in more of the stuff that was talked about when Price signed, if you all know what I mean and I think you do. But the way the Red Sox are handling it is some Mets-level stuff. The big mistake is they should have terminated Eckersley immediately. My mind cannot even begin to comprehend this line of thinking. Are you really serious? If anyone is a distraction it's Price. And if this situation in general is creating a distraction that's affecting the team on the field, then that's on Farrell and the players. So you just want announcers to say how wonderful all these players are and they the most awesome guys in the world. And their performance is spectacular, too. Enough with the pro sports athlete worship. And again, Eck is no more employed by the Boston Red Soc than he is employed by Liverpool, F.C. I hope he keeps being honest. I don't need a color guy sucking up to the players all the team because he has no balls to be honest and fair. And Eck has always been fair. He's fan of the team and lauds the players when they do well.

Price is a fool. Look at lastnight he got upset at getting Gatorade poured on him after a huge win. Every other player is jumping for joy and Price is upset. The guy is killing this teams chemistry. They should have punished him and sent a clear message after what he did. I'm really starting to hate Price!
From everything I have seen Eck is a class act.

Yeah kinda Gladly! That game was great. Like 15 people have posted above you that the full clip showed this wasn't the case, and that it was a strategically altered cut to make him look bad. But don't let reality fight off your preconceived notions. I know, right? Without Price around making everyone tense they might have come back last night twice against two of the best relievers in baseball... I dunno, maybe he got written up? What happens when you get into an ultimately useless heated argument at work? Maybe pay attention to who/what you are reading, then. I'll add that I really love Eckersley - his passion as a player was incredible and he brings that same passion as well as a great oddball perspective to the booth. But he's rubbed a lot of people the wrong way throughout his baseball life. Him and Dwight Evans got into a sorta public tiff when Evans thought that Eckersley was showing him up after a strikeout way back in the 1990 (or was it '88?) ALCS. He was a lot like Pedro in that he really had a way of irritating his opponents and people who didn't like him. So it is. Price was probably in the wrong with the initial confrontation, but turning this into any more than just a couple of guys getting heated is the worst of the Boston sports media trash heap.

I agree with you in general (but would use the term 'bully', which he was before the red Sox signed him). I saw the video and I think he needs a break on this one. His reaction to the water could be anger or simply a reflex of the cold chill from the water. (Unless you have an additional video)

Seriously with the Gatorade thing? You can see him start to smile again immediately after he briefly pretends to be upset.

But the way the Red Sox are handling it is some Mets-level stuff. The big mistake is they should have terminated Eckersley immediately. They should terminate Eckersley for doing his job properly? Really, get a grip. He's an analyst, not a cheerleader. When the Sox doing something well he commends them. If they do something wrong he criticizes them. That's exactly what he's supposed to do. His job desciption isn't a$$kisser. Price behaved like a bully and your defense of him amounts to "He's a Red Sox player and I love the Red Sox". That doesn't mean it's alright for him to behave that way. And his reiteration of defending his behavior was ridiculous. I don't blame Eck for not wanting to see him and his thought that he "turned Eck positive" is an absolute joke. Eck will and should continue to call them as he sees it. That is his job. Now because of his foolishness he has a media target on his back which leads to the "fake news" here others are talking about.

Look who is keeping this story alive. More than anyone it's Dan Shaughnessy. Case closed.

Look who is keeping this story alive. More than anyone it's Dan Shaughnessy. Case closed. If not for Price's behavior there would absolutely be no story. He brought this on himself so now the CHBs of the world get to have a field day with this. Absolutely stupid and so unnecessary and avoidable.

No, he is a fool. He created this problem, like he has done a bunch of other times. This isn't the first time. Then made it worse by challenging Eck again about coming into club house. A simple I handled this wrong and it all goes away. Nope, he doubled down. I'm sorry but there was nothing wrong with Ecks comments. I really enjoy Eck when he calls a game. He is a HOF pitcher and Red Sox employee. By all reports this wasn't a heated argument between the two. More like an attack, a verbal assault. If I did that at work I most likely would have been fired. Minimum a letter in my personal file, with a warning if it happended again I was gone. Don't you dare tell me to pay attention to what I read. It was front page of the ESPN Red Sox page after the game. Price created all this drama that after a huge win, it's all about him and Gatorade. So maybe I watched an edited video , doesn't change the fact that Price created all of this. The Video I watched looked bad! Not sure what Eck did in his playing days has to do with any of this. I want Price to piss off the other team and it's players. I wouldn't mind if he want after a Yankee announcer, but not a Red Sox employee over nothing. Creating a month plus long distraction. Are you really arguing it hasn't been a distraction ? What because of a come back win? Come on.

"Maybe the facts were wrong, but it doesn't change the facts!" 2017, ladies and gentlemen. Anyway, I agreed from the top that Price was being dumb. But all the other narrative is just a bunch of stuff that happened - there's no gleaning deeper narrative. A couple dudes had an argument. I guess it's in the medias interest to keep on selling it, but we don't have to keep buying. The whole this is just the classic "sound and fury signifying nothing," y'know?

Price could be the reason whether this team wins the division but yeah, he is absolutely killing the team chemistry right now.

Price ... is absolutely killing the team chemistry right now. How does one learn such? I've no idea what team chemistry is now, last month, last year.

Price created the edited video that is being used to show something that is absolutely not true? What if they use CGI to show how he murdered someone? Is that his fault also because he got in an argument with Eckersley on a private plane? The media is responsible for its own actions. When they create fake news, it's them and only them doing it.

I wonder what the reaction would be if Price turned down a face to face meeting with Eckersley? This story gets more insidious by the day. An incident which should never have left the plane is being kept alive purely by Eckersley and his media allies.

Price is the reason why this is all happening, by doing two stupid things. Everyone keeps calling it an argument, when that's just not what happend. It was an attack, verbal abuse. Then he doubled down and called Eck out a second time. Over a comment that was 100% fine. It's childish and he deserves the media backlash 100%.
