Welp: David Price scratched from Saturday start with soreness in elbow/forearm. Had MRI yesterday. Sox already planning 2nd opinion. Second opinion will be with either Dr. Andrews or Dr. El Attrache.

Well that is terrible news.
Edit: seeking a second opinion from James Andrews which usually translates to: TJ expected.

Hopefully Porcello's 2016 season is who he is because if Price is out and Porcello is more the innings eater he was prior to last year the vaunted rotation is in trouble
Speaks to how fragile these things can be.

Well that makes the Sale trade look better. Brutal though. Hopefully ERod or Pomeranz can take that next step forward this year.
Edit - I guess you can add Owens into that mix but I'm losing pretty much all hope there.

Makes the Sale trade look worse to me. And the Pomeranz trade a lot worse. Gave up a top pitching prospect for a middle to back end starter with elbow issues, and then didn't even return him when given the opportunity.

Definitely fair, but we should still be a playoff team, and once you're in the playoffs with a good lineup and 2 Cy Young winners, you could still win a WS. Id rather have all those prospects back then Sale, Pomeranz and Kimbrel. Same, because those other two trades were miserable overpays.

Multiple reports out there about David Prices' potential need of TJ Surgury.

It's all about quality IP. If Price goes down that's 200 IP Farrell needs to account for. Given who is on the roster all signs point to the Buccholz trade as folly.

Aren't you glad Dealer Dave gave away Buchholz for nothing?
Another A+ move by him.

Yeah on his way to see Dr Andrews to get a second opinion is what I read. Obviously not a plus when Pomeranz seems iffy. Pitchers whose delivery appear a lot of arm and not as much lower body seem at higher risk to me. Hope for the best but this doesnt look good.

Multiple reports out there about David Prices' potential need of TJ Surgury. To be clear, the report is not that he might need TJ. It's that he had an MRI on which there are no results yet and that he's going to see either Dr. Andrews or Dr. ElAttrache. Semantics maybe, but they might be important.

The upside here is that everyone on the internet questions whether Dr. Andrews was right not to recommend Tommy John surgery while I slowly descend into madness.

Isn't the report that he will meet with Dr. Andrews for a "second opinion". That implies to me that he has already been given a diagnosis following the MRI.
