That really is the cleanest path to MLB. I mean maybe he is Ripper Collins... Seen here with Elbie Fletcher (6'0") for scale.

Interesting that there's no line and no grass next to the base. Are you sure he's not moving to SS?

Does Chavis-brentz-Travis remind anyone of a Jedi character? This has ruined me for the night. All I can think of is "Joba the Hut" haha. The good ole days of Joba Chamberlain.

Does Chavis-brentz-Travis remind anyone of a Jedi character? I think the 'most Jedi-sounding name' distinction already went to Tzu-Wei Lin.

Luke used to bull's-eye womp rats in his T-16 back home with Tucker Tubbs.

So it seems 1B is the other position the Red Sox want Chavis to learn. He is practicing there and will play games there in the AFL.
Any other reports on him trying any other positions?

Not a bad list to make as it has 3 of the top 10 prospects in Baseball.

New MiLB article detailing some of his Arizona Fall League and past year experiences. The SP scouting crew here recalls seeing live batting practice on a stacked Greenville team in 2015 (correct me if Im wrong), in which Chavis had some of the most impressive BP on a stacked roster that included Moncada, Devers, Benintendi, Dubon, Longhi, and Javier Guerra at various points. It sounds like he changed the way he's gone about BP this past year:

That's correct, and in-game at that time it was very clear he was trying to hit home runs every swing. He still can slip into swinging big, but it's not nearly as bad as before. Everything he says there squares with what I've seen, 100%.

Scroll down in the link to a scouting look at Chavis from the AFL. Nothing surprising here necessarily, but always good to synthesize multiple opinions/looks.

Does anyone think Chavis can be a Uggla or Daniel Murphy type at 2B?
I am just curious as we all know Pedey has had trouble staying healthy and if Chavis can be a viable option at 2B, his bat may really help out.

Yes I think he can be, but he hasn't played a inning there in his career yet at second base, so it's just a guess

It would be great if Chavis could move between 1B and 3B. Is anyone aware if he has continued taking grounders at first?

I'd rather see him in LF.

I'd rather see him in LF. If the Sox do wind up with JDM and deal JBJ you could get your wish. It would be JDM in LF for 2018 with the possibility of him shifting to DH in 2019 with Chavis grabbing LF if he proves capable.

He's been a very easy guy to like and root for ever since he put on BOS jersey with a bowtie.
