Yeah I'm pretty done with Holt in the lineup all the time. Can't wait for full health.

Tough game. Sale pitched very well, didn't capitalize on the opportunities we had, and that will hurt against a pitcher of Verlander's caliber. Hopefully we'll be closer to full strength tomorrow with Xander and potentially Hanley back, and everyone else who has been impacted by the various ailments going around getting closer to fully healthy.

Good news is Pomeranz is pitching so when he's hot we get what 5.2 innings out of him so tomorrow we should get about 4....

What an ugly game of baseball by Holt today.
Tigers batters in PA 1-3 vs Sale: 4-27, 10Ks Tigers batters in 4th PA vs Sale: 1-1, BB
JBJ to DL.

At least the pitching staff only had to go 8 innings today. That should pay dividends in October.
Pablo Sandoval well on his way to having another negative two win season. Keep it up, buddy. Go get 'em.

Go get 'em. It's way too early to be drawing conclusions, but I get it. However, he looks a lot better than he did last year in both spring training and the few games played so far. I think he's back to being the declining player with lots of flaws that he was when he was signed. He'll be disappointing, but not a disaster this year, IMO. I'm also getting a feeling that Marco Hernandez could replace him and be a better player.

baseball is a lot of .500 win percentage, with a few hot streaks. We haven't had full lineup, staff, relievers. I like where we are. We got em right where we want em.

It's been three years, a shoulder surgery and at least one broken belt since he was an average MLB starter. And six years since he was genuinely good. He's so bad; the only thing keeping him from being a total disaster is that hopefully they replace him with Hernandez or Holt or Rutledge or something else creative. I mean the team is fine, so it's whatever—they can absorb a season of Pablo Sandoval being fat and awful at baseball so I'm not upset with where the team is.

Just can't win many games when you only get 4 hits. Time to get the team back together and regroup.

Still wondering why a team carrying Sandoval and Mooreland at the corners thought Travis Shaw was expendable. We spent the whole winter talking about Sandoval's weight, but what always bothered me is that even if you pretend he's always had a 34 waist, you're still left with a guy who's fairly old, hasn't been good in a while, and just missed a whole season because of a shoulder surgery. Dropping the weight is nice and all, but looking at the big picture, there's a very real chance he'll never be even an adequate major league player again.

That was a very weird trade, the only explanation I got is that they didn't believe Shaw had a future at 3B because of his glove. Even then, any trade that actually creates a hole in a team this close to the World Series is pretty damn idiotic.
