Also Soxprospects now has him as an inactive ex-prospect, but how do they know he won't sign with another team like Behenna and Boyd did? Because he has not, in fact, signed with anyone despite having been released two weeks ago.

Active vs. Inactive ex-prospects can be fluid. If someone listed as inactive signs we'll move them, but if someone gets cut it's kind of a judgment call whether to wait until after the season. We also changed a couple years ago to start listing players who are in NPB or KBO as active. We might wait until the offseason on someone like Mars who has been in the high minors, got signed, and has a fair chance of being picked up on someone, and make someone who gets cut in the low minors inactive since it's so rare that they get signed. In Brown's case, he was a 23-year-old college draftee who didn't make Greenville, didn't end up being one of the guys taxi'd up when they needed an arm, and got cut before the NYPL season started. If someone likes him and gives him a shot we'll move him, but that usually hasn't happened.

It's not hard to imagine that this could be Junici's last stop in American Baseball. If he never pitches again, then thanks for everything Juninci. You were a huge part of that 2013 team.

im looking at the fangraphs third base leaderboard, and devers and moncada are having damn near the same season this year.
As of today, they are tied for fourth among major league third baseman with 3.6 fWAR each, they have the exact same 141 wRC+, and the same .232 ISO. What a breakout year for both these guys.

Kris Negron is currently playing for the mariners Easily the most random former Sox minor leaguer to carve out a long career, albeit up and down. He made his MLB debut 8 years ago! Just look at the rest of that draft class. www.soxprospects.com/dh0605.htm

Is that old friend Ryan Lavarnway who just had an RBI double for Cincy? I can't believe he's still kicking around. He always was a good AAA hitter for a catcher

I can't believe he's still around, and I can't believe he's only 31. Also, glancing at his fangraphs, he was a consistent beast offensively in our minor league system (including a 172 wRC+ in Pawtucket), especially for a catcher. Shame it never translated to the next level.

Worth noting that Lavarnway was released by the Yankees (from SWB) the day before yesterday.

I watched Santiago Espinal in a couple games last weekend in Hartford. Toronto has kept him at 2nd base even with Bichette leaving for AAA. I was surprised to see his average in the 260's because he was hitting lasers when I watched, 7 line drives in 2 games. Also got to see Toronto's future ace Pearson, with a fastball "only" sitting 99, not the reported plus 100 he has logged. The Sox may have got the best HS arm when they drafted Kopech in 14 but may have missed on Pearson who was taken 4 picks after Houck, not that any team always gets that right.
