The Yankees released Jacoby Ellsbury. Devan Fink @devanfink · 4m Jacoby Ellsbury, released today by the Yankees, will still be paid $21,142,857.15 next year. He is also entitled to a $5 million buyout for the 2021 club option. . . . . Is he worth league minimum ? Yankees also DFAed Greg Bird who might be a decent minor league flyer.

The Yankees released Jacoby Ellsbury. Cool - the Sox get their leadoff hitter and CF for 2020 when they trade away JBJ and Betts.

INSANE. Whatever you think it's gonna be, it's not. Highly recommend the whole thing. Thanks for passing it along.

I hope people read this and stop saying "Just get the surgery now and be done with it." Doctors aren't gods. A lot of times, they kill people. Amazing and shocking story.

ESPN reporting that our old friend Shaq Thompson (Drafted 18th round in 2012) has signed a $54.2 million deal with the Carolina Panther. Every time I see his name, I'm reminded of his superb stat line from his GCL days!

A friend of mine is pretty close with Shaq and if I ever get the chance to meet him (by all accounts he's an awesome dude) I'm 100% going to ask about this.

Unsurprising. Ian reported back that fastballs were getting blown by him on his rehab assignment

His teammates reportedly absolutely loved him in the GCL.

I'm surprised Kelly couldn't top that guarantee stateside (if that's what he wanted to do).

I'm surprised Kelly couldn't top that guarantee stateside (if that's what he wanted to do). I can't find any info on what he's actually throwing these days, but his K/9 was only 6.3. I'm guessing he might be kind of a junkballer now, which is the exact type of pitcher MLB teams aren't interested in these days. Pretty cool that he gets to play real baseball for real money in Korea as opposed to toiling in the minors, though.

Nogosek just caught a DFA from the Mets To open the spot for Porcello. Hard to see him clearing, he was excellent in the minors. Got crushed in a very short stint in the majors but he'll still just be 25 in January and he has two options left.
