I really don't care about assessing blame, I just don't was our guys to lose a game with Sale's pitching line. That would really hurt.

The whole, "No, Kimbrel actually pitched well" BS is a bit too much

Damn, first season of Flash Gordon as the closer. This is further awesome because the Indians closer was Assenmacher, which I have to believe it's a german pornstar name.

Yes Kimbrel needs to close that game - but Farrell needs to let his Ace finish it.

Nah, their closer was Michael Jackson! (I always remember him going by Mike but B-Ref has him as Michael and I'm running with it.) For what it's worth, there's no way Charles Nagy gets brought out for the ninth inning in 2017, and so Pedro takes the L.

The good news is Mookie. The bad news is that Jason Grilli's dad owns the bar up the street from me and so I probably shouldn't wear my Red Sox hat when I stop in.

Any team with Sale and Betts can't be too bad.

Whether the Red Sox win or lose today's game I ended up in a Red Sox box score with a line that read "Midre Cummings pinch runs for Jim Leyritz (PH) batting 8th" so my day is made.

A 3-run lead and the bottom-of-the-order -> Kimbrel-proof

Its like Kimbrel chooses the worst possible games to blow. It wasn't a meltdown like he walked 4 dudes in a row, Morales was sitting fastball and got a decent one to hit and hit it really hard. It happens, it's baseball. I'm encouraged because Kimbrel kept his composure and finished the inning strong, last year we probably wouldn't have made to extras. Im not trying to say its his fault or anything, Just a coincidence... Guess Im still not over that BS at YS to clinch the division last year. I was even arguing in Kimbrels favor in his last appearance. It was just horrible timing after waiting that long for the one run, thats all.

meltdown like he walked 4 dudes in a row,
Both pitches were fat. Obviously he's thinking 'no walk here'.

I fail to see the reasoning for sending Kimbrel out for the 10th. He already vultured a win. Let someone else get the all important save stat.

GREAT WIN!
And Kudos to Farrell for bringing Kimbrel back for the second inning and trying to win the game at hand.

Simmer down - he gave up a jack - not ideal but it happens to every pitcher.
