It's the first MLB start for Aquino who got in for three games out of relief for the O's last year. He's bounced around since being a pretty decent prospect for the Rockies earlier in the decade. It's amazing how much he's bounced around being only 24, but he's another example of a talented international signee ending up on a 40-man roster way before he was ready to the detriment of his own career and development as a player.

Matchup of two of the highest spin rate pitchers in baseball. Look for a lot of swings under the ball.

Nice of the O's to have him pitch likely the only game Leon starts this series.

I hate these guys - and Tampa and Toronto and NYY - but I really hate these guys tonight because they're the Orioles and they're in our way.

It's pretty cool that for all our differences on this board, we can all come together and agree that Showalter is an overrated hack.

There's something you don't see everyday, a Pablo error. Oh wait.

waiting for the offense to have that streak of runs that we are so accustomed to. I know Papi was a big factor in that, but I still believe this will be a top offense. Hope the breakout happens soon.

Pomeranz struggling with his command. Unusual game for him.

He often struggles with his command that's why he has trouble making it past 5 innings.

The Sox can see what homeruns look like now if they can only hit a few.

He often struggles with his command that's why he has trouble making it past 5 innings. That's BS. Then why does he struggle with high pitch counts?

Welp.
Good pitching in general by Pomeranz, albeit too many pitches, and Kelly. Someone send some offense, soon.

Get some friggin runs. We all know what always happens when they start scoring more runs they allow more runs. Thats why you need to take advantage when you get good pitching.

OK, I'll say it - at this point last season Ortiz had 12 hits of which 8 were doubles and 3 were HRs.
He was a hall of fame-level offensive player. They have some nice pieces here and it's early but that was not replaced.

I have said several times that Papi was more important than his stellar stats and that the Sox would find out to their dismay. I think that we will score at least 100 runs less this year. We are 10-7 but with only a +1 run differential. Without Sale & Kimbrel....not so hot. Maybe put Beni down in the order for a start to take some pressure off.
