Mookie's wRC+: 2016 135 2017 135 Mookie slugging 2016: .534 2017: .465 ISO 2016: .216 2017: .155 The problem with the offense is lack of power and it's pretty much team wide.

Shortstop Xander Bogaerts, when asked why #RedSox struggling to score runs: 'David (Ortiz) isn't here. We miss him.'' So there it is - I've been saying it since 2006: This team is nothing without Big Papi. One person can't save a team when they're hitting like this. I would disagree. A hot hitter can carry a whole club for a stretch. Hitting contagion...confidence...whatever you want to call it. Also, our pitching has been good. We aren't talking 5 or 6 runs a game.

Also, our pitching has been good. We aren't talking 5 or 6 runs a game. Well they had 3 baserunners last night, so even Papi would have had a hard time getting 4 RBIs to win that one. Night before wasn't much better. I mean of course he'd make the team better, but then Moreland and his 143 wRC+ wouldn't be on the team. The improvement from what Moreland has done so far to what Papi might have done isn't going to make a huge difference this early in the season. Everyone needs to hit like they're capable of and of course that will happen over a long season. They probably aren't going to finish the season with 80 home runs.

Everybody needs to calm down about Chris Sale not getting any run support. He went against Estrada in his last start and then Tanaka both of which they have sucked against for a while!
