I didn't see any evidence of injury when he was pitching. Admittedly he looks older than his chronological age from a body standpoint, but that seems endemic for knuckleballers. Who would trust one who was lean and mean? |

Terrible luck for Steven. Take care of it, heal up, and hopefully get back next season and pitch like 1st half of 2016.

The temperature in this thread would be hotter if this happened before Buchholz's injury.
Anyway, this really stinks. There is no way when they traded a post-post-post prospect Lars Anderson for him that I thought he'd become a key starter on a Red Sox playoff team. Hopefully the recovery is smooth and he's good for 2018 without complications.

This, unfortunately, explains a lot. There had to be some reason why he went from driving batters crazy to being so ineffective. Just one leg to stand on. I'm glad he's getting it done so he can make his way back out there.
