It's too bad Jackie Bradley stinks and his hitting the last couple years has been a fluke. I know this is sarcasm, but in compartison to previous years he appears to be making harder contact this year regardless is the ball is being tracked down. I have full confidence in another 20 HR year over 150 games. Other numbers should be close to last year when it's all finalized, as well.

I'd like to give Pablo 100 more at bats or so before I make any real assessment but any one think there´s amy reasonable chance a team would give a good prospect if Sox paid 80% or more of Panda's remaining salary.

Mookie, Benny, Hanley in the .250-.260s not going to cut it - add Pablo and Leon and Rutledge...gotta get some of these guys turned around - in a hurry.

I'm not sure how many teams would give him a 40-man roster spot if they only needed to pay him the minimum. EDIT: I mean... Deven Marrero has a .222 OBP and started over Sandoval and it's at least arguably the right decision. No team is giving up a prospect for a 30-year-old who is probably worse than Deven Marrero.

Toss out any starter against this team, 4/5 times they seems to pitch like CY against them. Pelfy 5 scoreless, Miley 7 inning 1R, etc.

Kind of aggravating how the Red Sox let Buck Showalter's Orioles push them around. The Orioles seem to get the best of the Red Sox when they play (or fight) each other.
It was kind of pathetic how the Red Sox let their former pinata Wade Miley look like a Cy Young Award winner.
If the Red Sox want to get serious about winning the division they need to figure out how to beat Baltimore and New York (who they have lost five straight to).

Any word on Carson Smith yet? Does he have to wait until the 60 days are fully up from the moment he was transferred to the 60 day DL on April 27th? Or can he come off the DL sooner than that because he was on the DL all season?
I heard he was throwing well from his bullpen sessions and if he's eligible to come off the DL soon, he could see rehab games soon hopefully.

Buck Showalter makes it easy to dislike him. I just saw an interview of him from today. He takes a routine question about divisional scheduling and he works in "Because nobody wants to play in Boston in September with an expanded roster because the locker room is so small, which they could fix..." He's just got this weird inferiority complex or something which compels him to say annoying things about the Red Sox. A complete tool imo. He's also a much better manager than the one we have.

Well, for the most part, it is not about the pitching (with a few bumps, which are to be expected).
What's up with Mookie? Benny? Hanley (who is essentially useless - the opposite of Papi in terms of DH effectiveness)? And on and on....we are nearly 1/3 through the season and it is hard to know what to make of this team...certainly lacks a distinct identity. Sure, injuries - but there is something more significant missing. Certainly it is a line up that strikes fear in the hearts of no opposing pitching staff.

Mookie had 17 XBH last month, good for 3rd in the majors.

Hanley is the big problem. He is a good complement to an offense, but hasn't shown the ability to carry an offense for years. I know people are going to think it is silly to put that onus on him, but hitting is his job right now. We need him to be better. Benny is a rookie and is going to have his struggles. 3B is an obvious problem, which they will be forced to address if Sandy continues like this. The rest of the offense is good enough.
Still looking to take 3 of 4. We have the team to do this. Last year we got hot in September, it will happen again. Redsox is right though, we have to beat these teams or at least play to a draw.

Unreal. Michael Silverman reporting on Twitter that E-Rod is going on the DL due to the slip he had in his warmup before yesterday's game. This kid just can't catch a break.

It seems more irritating that it occurred in the bullpen and wasn't the result of an actual play during the game. Welcome back Brian Johnson.

Sox are off Monday, so presumably Johnson takes his turn in the rotation tomorrow for Pawtucket to get his work in (pull him after 5 or something), then comes up next week on his regular day on Thursday. Wednesday would be 10 days from when he was optioned, so he'd be fine. Workman coming up, per the beat writers on Twitter. Can come up before 10 days b/c it's for an injured player going on the DL.

Some more info “@peteabe: Rodriguez has had an issue with his kneecap dislocating, which is what this is related to.”
“@peteabe: Rodriguez on DL: seeing Dr. Andrews for a second opinion on Monday. Knee injury, hope is short-term. Brandon Workman recalled.”
“@mikesilvermanbb: E-Rod getting second opinion on knee, which subluxated, Monday. He has anatomical peculiarity in knee that makes him prone to sublux.”

What is odd is that he wasn't terrible yesterday. Yes, he allowed four bombs, but it seemed to me that he was in control for most of it.
