Impressive that they're still doing well. For what it's worth, it's very possible Lovullo's on the DL with a phantom injury to make room for Darwinzon. Not certain, but possible. But your point stands anyway. I'd take the Greenville DL infield over 2 of the 4 active infields.

Would any MLB team take Castillo for $5M a year in salary? $4M?...

Darwinzon went just one inning today, according to the MiLB box score.
Not sure if that was planned (doubtful), injury or injury caution (possible), or just a long inning (2H, 2BB, 1ER) after just coming off the DL.

Not sure if that was planned (doubtful), injury or injury caution (possible), or just a long inning (2H, 2BB, 1ER) after just coming off the DL. He threw 38 pitches in his one inning. That was almost certainly why they pulled him, especially given that he was making his first start after a DL stint. Magic number is occasionally 30 in an inning (I can remember Barnes coming out of a game after 1 inning while with Greenville and freaking us all out, and that was how we learned that, at the time, 30 in an inning was a hard cap in the system.)

Henry Owens with 103 pitches in 4 1/3 inning. Deep sigh.

Henry Owens with 103 pitches in 4 1/3 inning. Deep sigh. And like I mentioned a couple days ago, it's against a Syracuse team that is super aggressive. Kendrick needed 71 pitches to get through seven innings on Monday. Saw Johnson last month, and he was at 100 pitches through 8, and that was after fading with a 21-pitch 8th. EDIT: In game 2, Velazquez and Olmos had 57 pitches through six innings.

Owens and Swihart for Hamels in hindsight wouldn't have been so bad. Instead we traded niether of them for RAJ, so don't cry for us.

Would any MLB team take Castillo for $5M a year in salary? $4M?... Forget that.... Allen Craig is slashing .333 .474 .667 1.140 in June. I'd argue Castillo still has potential to be a useful 4th OF in an emergency if Sox go over tax for some other reason and have a need. Can't see Craig ever having value. Including trade value after one week of lucky hitting, sadly.

Tyler Hill with a 3/5 day and his 12th double. Now up to a .275/.358/.420 slash line on the year with 19 SB/4 CS.

Including trade value after one week of lucky hitting, sadly. The crucial difference is that Craig is gone after this season with a $1M buyout. Castillo is signed through 2020, although he can opt out after 2019. It's far from certain that he would, though, as he makes $13.5 million in that final season. Do we know how any money they pay another team in a trade counts against the CBT if he's not on the 40-man at the time, at least?

Clean inning for Callahan with 1K.
After a poor 1/3 inning on 5/18, he's really settling into AAA nicely now. Going to be interesting to watch Callahan and Buttrey develop. I'm looking forward to updated scouting reports from Ian on these guys in another month.
