Sliders have been devouring Franco this year, but he's actually been much better patience wise, and everyone remembers his days as a power hitting prospect. Seems like he's an adjustment away from going back to being a very good hitter in my opinion.
He can play 3B until Devers is up (he's having a bad year there, probably part of that being lost confidence). Then if he's hitting, 1B and DH are options for him and he's under team control for a few more years.
What would it take to buy low on Franco?

I'm just going to guess but it'll probably take more to get Franco than a Moustakas.
I'm not opposed if the cost is the same though.

Probably, but you're also getting more of a return with his control. Moustakas is crushing the ball lately. I think the bidding for him may get too high for our liking. The Yankees have more to give and I expect that they'll be interested. I'd have very little interest in giving Moustakas a contract after this season either. He and Hosmer will both get overpaid.

Not that I'm deeply opposed to the idea of making a deal for Franco, he's been noticeably sub-replacement level this year and hasn't been very good previously in the majors either. I'm pretty sure he'd come a lot cheaper than moustakas, even if you add a premium to account for the team control. Moustakas is playing at an all star level and Franco is playing like he should be in AAA. He's had some tough batted ball luck clearly, but even so I'd be shocked if the phils could get a better return for him than Kc could get for moustakas, and I'd be inclined to believe they wouldn't want to trade him this year at all unless he goes on a tear to boost his trade value again

I'm not sure why a rebuilding team like the Phillies would trade Franco unless it was an overpay.

Well, I think Devers is the guy past this season that the Sox actually want at third base anyways.
