Strongly wondering that Vazquez's main skills behind the plate is his arm and his framing ability because he is very inconsistent at everything else behind the plate. Any questions?

The throw to end the game was great, but that Robby Scott strikeout of Gurriel was all Vazquez (and incredibly important to winning this game/series).

Kimbrel is making me eat all the bad words I've ever said about him and I could not be happier.

Scarifying win on a night none of the pitchers really dominated and now a virtual tie for first place.
Hopefully Betts, Pedroia, and Price will be alright. Also heard that Carson Smith had a setback.
If this team could just get healthy.

His weakness was identified on this site a long time ago, and it's his inconsistency blocking balls. Everything else? He just showed you what he's about with the tag and the framing. I'm not though. Vazquez for being a "elite defender" has made plenty of errors at the catching position this year. I mentioned his pitch framing as a plus also. I'm glad he had a great game last night behind the plate though.

Vazquez has 6 Errors in 35 or 36 games this year and has a -5 DRS this year, which speaks to the inconsistency I was speaking about earlier. I like the player and the defense overall (between the pitch framing and arm) but I'm literally making nothing up. I'm glad he made 2 game saving plays to end the game however.

Pedrioa experiencing swelling around his back rib cage. Had a X-Ray done in Houston. Screw the Astros for playing bean ball. Hopefully Pedrioa is only day to day.

Now that was a game! Yes RS bailed out by X but it was deserved with all the Pitching injs and the black hole at 3b this season. I missed Andrew's assist.
Panda getting the hot corner tonight and I'd guess Rutledge at 2b.

Panda getting the hot corner tonight and I'd guess Rutledge at 2b. Benintendi got the ball on a bounce, and launched a throw that reached Vazquez on the fly. In a single motion off the momentum of the catch, he swipe-tagged the runner in the back as he was flying by. The throw was very accurate. If it hadn't been perfect the score would have been tied. That was just a great game.

I watched both plays over again. For those who have MLB's At Bat app, both videos are up. The throw to second that ended the game is mind-boggling, just a light beam. Coming to you from the great Northwest

He has the reverse split this year in a very small sample, from 2014-2016 he had a .586 OPS against righties and .692 against lefties. Thats just Farrell using numbers the wrong way.

It's pretty weird how we both have our top 3 in our lineup pretty identical.
1st RF with the most power on the team and speed 2nd 2nd baseman who hits for avg and puts the ball in play 3rd SS who comes up in the clutch more often then not
Even looking past that the lineup just looks pretty similar maybe not by position but type of hitter they are. They also have a rookie in LF thats a CF and hits LH and has a beautiful swing. We both have veteran DHs that have been amazing their whole career. They have a young 3rd baseman and we have one we should be calling up lol.
