There's a chance he's getting promoted, but it's also a day game after a night when he went 0 for 4 so there's also a chance that it's nothing.
Also, I could never be a minor league manager, because I'd just pull my top prospects out of games in the 4th inning on July 31 just to mess with everyone. (And also because I'm horribly unqualified for such a job)

It was two years ago Deven Marrero left a game on the 30th or 31st with a legit injury and the internet went nuts with speculation. About Deven Marrero! Imagine pulling that with a guy like Devers. It would be glorious.

It happened with JBJ too  Re: Devers, they used to DH him in previous situations...but yeah, it maybe nothing it's just the timing that made me mention it. |

But yeah, we are in that range now where a guy in line for a promotion not playing that day might actually mean he got promoted. And Portland is off tomorrow.

Antonellis just said Devers has the day off on the broadcast.
But that said, moving both guys up coming out of the Carolina League ASB would make perfect sense, esp. with Portland off tomorrow.

Quick trade him before his diabetes gets back out of control. (FYI for that that get the reference, Chih Hsien Chiang is batting .355 and slugging over .668 for the 中信兄弟's of the CPBL.) |

Chavis and De La Guerra up to AA Will be interesting to see what the plan is for CDLG. Chavis and Devers are an obvious chain, but Tobias and Tzu Wei Lin are pretty well entrenched at 2B and SS. Lin has played outfield this year and getting him more experience as a super utility wouldn't surprise me all that much, but then that pushes another player nearly full time into the outfield. Days off and injuries will happen, but it'll be interesting to see how Portland would change up the playing time with a move like this. |
