On top of how Portland is going to allocate playing time, another interesting side to these promotions is how is Salem going to replace Chavis and CDLG. Infielder talent in the low minors is non-existent in the system right now, especially with Dalbec and Chatham hurt (who knows if either would be promoted to Salem if they had stayed healthy this year). The options are Jordan Betts, Jose Sermo, Nick Lovullo, Mitch Gonsulus, Santiago Espinal, Carlos Tovar, and Steven Reveles by my thoughts. Lovullo and Sermo are the only ones hitting above .250 right now. Stats aside, I don't see anyone in that grouping that I would be confident putting in their place. Lovullo is going to be my bet if they make a promotion, with Sermo and Betts already on the roster getting more playing time.

IF Michael Chavis and IF Chad De La Guerra promoted to Double-A Portland. IF Nick Lovullo and RHP Stephen Nogosek added from Low-A Greenville.

Are the Sox likely to use Nogosek as a pure closer in Salem like they did in Greenville?

Bullpen reorganization is also gonna be a thing to watch. With Nogosek being promoted, that brings Salem's pen up to 9 pitchers and Greenville's down to 5. Plus, at the moment there's only two bench players on the Salem roster, but I imagine that will change before they start playing again.

So they start playing tonight. That said, they can't leave the Salem roster at 14 pitchers and 11 hitters (with one of those 11 being Granger Studdard, who should be in the GCL) for very long.
Greenville gets Hart off of paper move, Cooney up on his rehab, Rusconi off DL
EDIT: So the reported 6/18 activation of Osnowitz didn't happen. Salem activates Eddy Reynoso. So now they're at a more manageable 12 hitters and 13 pitchers, although Reynoso and Studdard are over their heads at the level, so there are definitely shoes left to drop. Notably, Portland has three catchers right now and all three have had issues at the plate this year - maybe Procyshen goes back to Salem. Deiner Lopez strikes me as a guy who could go back down now that Tobias, Lin, and CDLG have the middle infield locked down and Devers/Chavis are splitting 3B.

Someone could list the play-by-play, but through two innings in Lowell, neither team has a hit, both teams have combined for three walks, Lowell has committed three errors, and Tri-City has 4 SB against 2 CS. Yikes.

5 teams played, and aside from Ockimey, oh my goodness what a dearth of offensive talent.

I attended the Spinners' game last night in Troy. Yikes. I make it a point to see the Spinners every year at least once, and small sample sizes aside, this doesn't look like a talented team. Even in lean years there's normally someone who looks interesting to follow, but last night it was a struggle to find someone interesting to follow for even 9 innings. It's just one game, and I'll be happy to be wrong, but this appears to be a team in need of talent infusion. Perhaps this year's draft class will provide some interest.
The Spinners threw the ball around the diamond like a little league team the first two innings. Dakota Smith should have been out of the first in about 10 pitches but the defense kept extending the inning. Troy didn't get a hit until the sixth, but could have had a 3-0 lead without a single hit before that if not for Lowell throwing out two runners at the plate. The first on a very nice backhand stab by Imeldo Diaz with the infield in and the runner at third going on contact. That was the Spinner highlight. The second was on a delayed steal attempt of second with a Troy runner on third. Frankly, the play was as much about poor base running by Troy than about good "D", but credit where it's deserved, the Spinners were ready for the play and executed well.
As for hitting highlights .........
I know it's a snap judgement based on one game. So my initial impression is a at risk for being flawed. It just feels like a tough year in Lowell right now.

Thanks for checking in. But yeah, sounds about right. Getting Houck, Netzer, and Thompson will help. If Schellenger's biceps tendinitis proves to be gone down in Florida, he'll probably join the Spinners too.
