If they are in Moustakas you can probably kiss Chavis goodbye. Doubt they move Devers but DD sure wont hesitate move others we like.

I'd be pretty ticked if Chavis got traded. I might be in the minority here - I know his BB/K isn't exactly the greatest and his defense has been bad to put it kindly, but I honestly don't think he's Will Middlebrooks Version 2.
I think he has a better hit tool. He might be better off in an outfield corner which is something the Red Sox might need at some point down the road. I wouldn't be surprised if he was 25 home run guy with an acceptable OBP and a decent batting average.
I hate the thought of trading somebody like that for a rental whether it's Moustakas, Frazier, Freese, or even Lowrie, who's always a good candidate to be injured.
I have a feeling I'm going to be ticked as I do think it will be Chavis who will be among Dombrowski's sacrificial lambs.
I would guess that they'd be looking for a setup reliever type who's at the end of his contract? I'd also hope they'd take a look at Doug Fister who I think the Angels released as they do need starting pitching depth as well.

I'd trade Chavis for Moustakas and that's probably it. Hopefully it wouldn't require much more to get Moose if they offered Chavis.
I wouldn't trade Chavis for Lowrie or Frazier though. I'd take either player and give up a Ty Buttrey type or something but really, these 2 players shouldn't be worth much anyways (I'm saying this knowing Lowrie is having a great year.

I would trade Chavis for Moustakas typically, but we're unlikely to try to re-sign Moustakas this offseason, so I don't see it as even worth giving up Chavis in this case honestly. Usually with rentals you have a half year to convince them this is a good fit, thus increasing your chances at re-signing him. There isn't the same incentive for us here with Devers coming up relatively soon.

I'd sign Lawrie and let him have a month in AAA before I traded assets for Moose. Granted that's assuming Lawrie is healthy enough to play eventually this year.

I just feel like this need is so dire and this player is such a great fit that even as a rental, it'd be probably worth it for 3 months. You're risking a lot but you're gaining a ton more if Moustakas keeps performing the way he has been all year in Boston. Going from Rutledge to Moose could be the best upgrade any team could make at the deadline this year.

Just read that Jae-gyun Hwang intends to opt out of his contract with the Giants if he is not promoted to the bigs by July 1. Don’t know much more about him other than he was one of the KBO’s top sluggers the past couple of years, had a strong spring training with the Giants, and has a .810 OPS in AAA albeit in the PCL.
Anybody know anything about him / think the Sox should try to grab him up if he opts out?

I would target Travis Shaw in a trade.

I would target Travis Shaw in a trade. Maybe they might do it if Thornburg and Smith are in the deal. We could throw in whoever recommended those trades who would then be immediately released in the best interests of baseball,
