The ceremony should be over early enough to allow Papi to stretch out and take a few hacks in the cage before he is due up in the bottom of the 1st.

The game plan is simple: Hit them early before they give the ball to the bullpen.

Why is Velazquez pitching on the 25th? Why not follow up Price with Sale & Pomeranz?

If I'm reading the schedule correctly, they don't have another day off until the All-Star break, so I think it's a good time to give the top four a five-day rest when they have the chance.

Great - enough of this day off crap - let's get back to baseball and wash the taste of that bullpen meltdown squander away and get back to the W column.
Home cooking - warmer weather - time for the bats to heat up!

i have gotten to old (past the 18-49 demographic) to really care about individual players success in this great organization (letters on front more important than name on back), but I will make an exception for Big Papi. No doubt he was a part of changing the culture of this team and I am thankful for that. Also, he was a helluva hitter.

Cant wait for Fister to throw a no hitter Sunday against the team that just let him go from a minor league deal.

Porcello has enough starts left that 20 losses is a possibility. The team is in the hunt, and should be until the end of the year. He won't get bailed out there. I know it has no significance, but it still would look pretty bad on the back of the card. Let's get him a W tonight and stop this trend.

Wow, a Wade Boggs sighting. Is this the first time he's been back at an official event?

Man, this Meyer kid looks tough when he's able to throw strikes. Kind of like a Justin Masterson on steroids with this 98 97 mph heat.

I'm 100% not having wet eyes...no sir! Agree. For me, growing up (1969) in the 70's and worshiping Jim Rice, but also Yaz, Evans, Fisk, and others, but he 90's and 00's were my young adult years and Pedro and Papi were everything. So yeah, I was more than a little emotional tonight.
