Christian Vazquez: 6-tool player. The sixth is the bat flipping tool of course.

Trying to tag from 2nd with 1 out again, costing them another run. This has happened multiple times this year. Runner scored anyways on the SF but still.

Pom has been a surprise since E-rod injury.
And Pedroia continues to be thrown out on the bases.

That was the 40th out on the base path by the Sox. Leading the Majors.

And then running into an out at second to end the inning. Some will say you gotta try, but no way were they throwing out Marrero on that play and Pedroia was out by 3 feet.

Not even Pedro could have done better this inning with this luck.

Hell of a job by Pom getting out of that. Ok, he's in line for the W. Time to take him out.

Good job from Pomeranz.
Side note: Am i the ONLY one who's sick & tired of Dave O'Brien giving a Yankee update(score, standings, etc.) all the time? Right now, at this point of the season, i'm not concerned with the Yankees. ONLY time i'm concerned with the Yankees at this point of the season, is when the Sox play them.

I'm guessing that's a production decision from above, not just O'Brien obsessing about the Yankees. That said, they're tied for first place. And it's early, but it's not that early, you know? I can see why people would be interested.

We gotta lose this game to keep pace with the Yankees.

Chris Young Tater! Hanley needs to hit the DL and he may even miss it.

Really need Mookie to get it going at the plate. Far too many 0-3 or 1-4 nights lately.

* A three run HR is a nice thing to see. What you like from your RHDH in Fenway...hope to see more. * O'Brien was overrating the Pen a few min's ago. They are good but things are skewed with closer-heavy stats.
* "Yankee Update" it does sound kind of like pandering.

Does it surprise anyone else that the Sox are knocking on the door of double digits? I swear, this team's offense has been shockingly average (and even feels so in games like this), but I just can't see this being what they do all year. One of these days you'd think they'd hear up as a team. Mookie's just not a .260 BABIP guy, and down the line nobody's been especially impressive. OTOH, I suppose that's what makes a good "team"-winning by picking each other up. But Lordy, if the pitching behind Sale gets hot or the offense does...there's plenty of upside.

Great win.
I know its a small sample size but I gotta say, I wouldn't be upset if they changed the locks before JF came back tomorrow. Let Gary D keep it going.
I'm only half kidding.

Great win. 1st place all to themselves and Pomeranz pitched a solid, albeit short game, although given the circumstances, who can blame him? Nice to see them swing the bats tonight.
