I'll go with the real MVP assessment, but I think this is the last reg season series between the Red Sox and NNY. The rest look like 6 with Totonto, 6 with Tampa, 4 with Houston and 3 with Balt, Cinn and Oak. 16 home, 13 away. It is the last series. Since it's the Yankees, wanting us to sweep them is only logical, but a split would be awesome since we'd be up 5.5 games with no games left between the teams and only 25 or so games to go. You got the 2 headed monster of Pomeranz and Sale going. Feeling great about getting 2 games. All is good!!

I like Hanley at 7 - with C Vaz hitting, and when we get JBJ back....then Pedey - gotta keep Nunez bat in the line up. Rosters expand. We will be loaded with able bodies soon to take the team into the home stretch.
Mostly, feeling great about Pom/Sale/Porcello starts.
Just gotta get Mookie and Xander back doing what we know they can - if that happens, the offense will get scary good.

Great game for the Sox. Great day picking up 1.5 games on the Yankees today. The only downside was losing that .5 games to Cleveland in what currently shapes up to be the HFA in a Cleveland/Boston series.
It's a strange dynamic in how Baltimore sticks it to the Red Sox and then the Red Sox beat up on Toronto. Good thing there's still 6 games to go with Toronto, and there are some other games against Tampa, Cincy, and Oakland. That's a favorable schedule.
I'd be satisfied with a split. If the Yanks sweep then it would probably be a matter of time before the Yankees go ahead of the Red Sox. If the Yanks take 3 of 4 then it will be a tight race to the end most likely. If the Sox split, then they're sitting pretty considering the way the rest of the schedule looks.
If the Red Sox take 3 of 4 or all 4 then the race is pretty much over. It would be nice if the Red Sox can actually score off Sabathia for a change. That would help.

The Sox are currently 3.5 games back of the number one seed and the Indians are currently 3 games back of the number one seed with one month left to play.

Hell of a play by Devers. He could probably play 2B also. He has impressive agility for his size and is faster than I'd thought he'd be on the bases. It'll take him at least 15 years to be as slow as Papi. Just finishing reading through the thread. Devers has a lot of fast-twitch to his fielding, and a strong arm - not that he doesn't make mistakes. But his reaction time is very good, much better that I'd have thought from anecdotal reports. He's 20 with lots of time to get much better. It's easy to imagine his eventual emergence as a power-hitting 3 rd third baseman with a good to very-good glove. That's a very valuable player.
