What team is Eduardo Lopez's signature leaning to? Edit: Other than the Sox I mean. Also, where is he ranked?

According to Badler, his overall profile is similar to Rangers outfielder Miguel Aparicio. That should clear it up for everyone?

There are no other teams mentioned in on Lopez -- usually these players are pretty locked in with a specific team by now (there are some exceptions). Also, BA and MLB Pipeline won't have rankings until probably early/mid-spring 2018. Based on everything that's been published so far on the 2018-19 class, I wouldn't suspect Lopez is in the running to be a top 10 type, but there is a LOT that can change between now and the spring.

Yeah, "tied to" is speak for "probably signing with and may already have an agreement." Early reports like that have been wrong before, though. Although I hate to say that a good recent example of that was Danny Flores, who was tied to the Mets early in the process but that turned out to be incorrect.

So somewhere between February 2017 and May 2017, Flores switched from the Rangers to Red Sox. This is pretty out of the ordinary, though. I think most of the top prospects by now have reached verbal agreements (or something of that nature) with a respective team.

I think Badler addressed that on our podcast and I think it was actually misinformation out there, or at least a misunderstanding, rather than him changing his mind, but I could definitely be wrong.

I take it he's an outfielder?

When do the rankings lists for J2 signings usually come out? Near J2

When do the rankings lists for J2 signings usually come out? MLB Pipeline/Jesse Sanchez usually has the first list (last year in May). BA/Ben Badler is shortly after that.

From Kiley McDaniel's chat:
No word on Eduardo Lopez (I asked).

Two Eduardo's, but different last names. Disappointing.

www.mlb.com/news/2018-19-international-signing-bonus-pools/c-269965184Will be interesting to see who is moved for pool money this year. I don't think anyone would've seen it coming that a Top 20 guy like Longhi was going to be moved for pool money last year. The rule 5 list doesn't look awful this coming year - Chavis, Ockimey, Darwinzon are all obvious adds - but maybe someone like Raudes could be moved for a good chunk of money.

Its probably wishful thinking, but if our major league and AAA bullpens are relatively healthy, it might be nice to turn some of that RH middle relief 'depth' into pool money. We'll see though, understandably its nice to have a lot of depth but at the same time we can't populate the 40-man roster with too many redundant, 6th/7th inning RHP arms.

I was thinking the same thing. The Sox have a reasonable abundance of upper-level arms with questions (from Velasquez, Elias, and Johnson down to Maddox, Jerez, Martin, Buttrey, etc.) but genuine utility. Any one of them might be a candidate to move depending on how the staff shakes out. A team with excess pool money (especially those $300k penalty teams, of which there are a number) that knows they won’t use it might very well be in the hunt and looking to add depth, or even retooling/looking to cut payroll and hope to throw a bunch of fungible arms at the wall and see who sticks. Obviously, right now there are a fair number in that group I’d like to see them hold onto, but as you say, there’s only so much space on the 40.

Looks like the usual suspects are in there (Dodgers, MFY, Cubs and indians to a lesser extend) but the Brewers? Damn! Also I saw that all of them have been linked to clubs at the exception of the cuban pitchers, Osiel Rodriguez (9) and Sandy Gaston (14) so maybe Eddie Romero can pull some of his magic here.

A bit underwhelming to see only one of the top 30 connected to the Sox. I’m going to take it as meaning we’re looking at a lot of the second tier guys out there.

While most of these players will go where they're reported to be going, at this time last year Daniel Flores was going to the Mets, iirc. So they're not always set in stone.
Note that Cubans Osiel Rodriguez (9) and Sandy Gaston (14) are not attached to teams. Also, Ben Badler's rankings can skew a decent amount from MLB's.

I believe MLB had Daniel Flores tied to the Sox when this list came out last year. Badler had them tied to the Rangers earlier (like in February). I'm pretty sure Jesse Sanchez got them all correct last year.
