Brett Netzer was picked in the third round of the 2017 MLB Draft. The 21 year old second baseman went to the University of North Carolina-Charlotte. He signed his first contract on June 25th and played his first game with Lowell on July 4th. He is known as a very offensive-minded player with enact of finding the gap when he is at the plate. He hit a rough patch his junior year at North Carolina, but was still able to be drafted. His aggressive approach and raw talent at second base has earned him comparisons to a young Dustin Pedroia. And here is a story from UMass Live that you may enjoy. www.lifestylesports101.com/boston-red-sox-exclusive-interview-with-second-baseman-brett-netzer/

Watching video of Brett Netzer has a nice short swing and start just above the letters as a very short load {when the pitch is thrown a batter will move his hands or is back shoulder back to generate power} and hands go straight to the ball. Netzer produced more power in his sophomore and junior year at UNC Charlotte but concerns me that he was using an aluminum bat. Still looking for videos of him playing defense but Scouting Report says he has a weak arm that does not project to any other infield positions. after signing netzer played 22 games with the Lowell Spinners before being promoted to Greenville in one Scouting Report which I'll include in this post projects that he should start the 2018 season at High-A Salem. I'm not going to give netzer account of Dustin Pedroia but just the comparison of size and abilities I'll include stats of both Pedroia's college stats along with Netzer's. news.soxprospects.com/2017/08/scouting-scratch-jake-thompson-and.html www.soxprospects.com/players/netzer-brett.htmwww.soxprospects.com/players/pedroia-dustin.htm

Videos that start with high school college and playing pro ball at Lowell .Could not anything while he was at Greenville. I know the Sox are loaded with smallish 2nd baseman but Netzer is 6'0" 190lb maybe he can develop some power like Pedroia did.

I really liked the Netzer pick last year. Not sure if I've said it on this site or not, but he reminds me of Jason Kipnis.

I can only hope that he turns into the Hard Nosed "Dirtbag*" player that Kipnis is. Today Jim Callis released his Top 30 Red Sox Prospects. Netzer came in at #19. Netzer's Scouting Grades Hit;50/Power;40/Run;50/Arm;40/Field;45/Overall;45 www.mlb.com/news/red-soxs-2018-preseason-top-30-prospects-list/c-266681700?tid=151437456* Dirtbag is Kipnis's nickname

I was reading the recent MLB Pipeline scouting report on Brett netzer and Jim Callis says that Netzer's bat speed and feel for the barrel allow him to make line-drive contact with ease. He he walked almost as much as he struck out in college though he expanded his strike zone in his introduction to pro ball. Callis also says that netzer have some raw power though his left-handed swing is relatively flat and geared more for doubles than home runs.. Netzer has average speed but a subpar arm strength limiting his defensive options though he did play left field in his freshman year. his Bat first profile at second base has drawn comparisons to Adam Kennedy and Tommy La Stella which I feel is a fair made Callis at this point in Netzer's young career

Kennedy had basically four 3 WAR seasons and was a very serviceable player. Here's to hoping we got a steal!

Netzer has continued to put up good numbers in Salem without much buzz. Any chance he gets the bump to Portland or are they trying to give De la Guerra the bulk of the game reps at 2nd there?

Seems like Netzer's scouting report has been pretty spot on. Striking out at a pretty good clip, but hitting line drives all over the place for a nice BA and super high BABIP. Does an excellent job at keeping the ball off the ground... but that makes his lack of power pretty striking.

Even his home run in May that I saw didn't seem to have a lot of pop behind it and just sort of carried out on a night there were 8 HR. It'll be doubles and singles.

His LD% ranks second among all qualified batters in High-A (N=187) behind only....Santiago Espinal. He has struck out in of 20.2% of PAs, but he's not necessarily swinging and missing a lot. His 9.6 SwStr% is better than average (ranks 58th lowest out of the 187 High-A batters).

Four different google searches and I can’t find out exactly why Netzer is on the restricted list. What’s the deal?

What a piece of crap Bizarre but we're thick into an age when asinine people feel emboldened to trumpet their ignorance.
Lucky for Brett there's a growing community of like-minded misanthropic weirdos to keep him company as he retreats into a lifetime of resentment for being "cancelled" by the "woke mob."
Enjoy the ride, douchebag.

Kind of can't tell if he's had a mental break of sorts or not, but he actually seems slightly too coherent for that. Saw in the replies that Kaleb Ort had tweeted some stuff I didn't really appreciate either, but not the same.

Oh was he trying to exercise his free speech? Dummy, that does not exist. Well, it's not like he was arrested. His right to free speech is fully intact. But he also let the world know that he's an unrepentant bigot, so he can assume full responsibility for how the rest of the world reacts to his words. After all, he is an adult. Unfortunately, that sort of abusive expression appears to run afoul of his former employer's code of personal conduct.

"Better to remain silent at the risk of being thought a fool, than to talk and remove all doubt."

Oh was he trying to exercise his free speech? Dummy, that does not exist. Not to pile on but freedom of speech as protected by the constitution guarantees he won't be thrown in jail for this. It doesn't protect him from everyone else knowing he's a giant piece of crap and not wanting to work with/employ him.
