Such an awful season for top Red Sox prospects.
The top draft pick is out for the season with a torn thumb ligament.
The top pitching prospect is out until 2020 with TJ surgery.
The best offensive prospect gets suspended for PEDs.
Worst of all the top international prospect passes away tragically.
I guess Tanner Houck, the #1 draft pick from last year, should consider himself lucky. He's merely been mediocre.

Someone suggested a while back that after the injuries to Dubon and Pennington, the Brewers should put Coca in bubble wrap. Well, now I think it's our turn to try. Put the entire system in bubble wrap?

Maybe. Chavis comes back and tears it up. What a crazy minor league year.

Seriously, let's just call the minor league season off and start over again next year. That's the best idea I've heard all day. I know it's way too early to talk about this, but where will he be assigned next season? He will be assigned to Obi Wan Kenobi so the force will stop him from any future injuries.

I know it's way too early to talk about this, but where will he be assigned next season? If they keep to their usual placement trends, most likely Greenville. But Lowell is also a possibility.

But Lowell is also a possibility. I know he's a high schooler, but I'd consider it a major disappointment if he's not ready for Greenville. (Important context: the injury isn't expected to keep him from Instructs, nevermind being healthy for ST and having a full offseason.) The last true first-rounder who didn't go to at least Low A in his first full season (if healthy) appears to have been Phil Dumatrait in 2001, but given that he only threw 40 innings I wonder if he was hurt.
