He has struggled at the plate a bit this year, but is a better defender and hitter than Nunez. He's also a RHH and a FA to be at the end of the year.
What do you think it would take to get him from the Twins, and is this something we should do? Pedey seems like a longshot to contribute this season.
Would a Lakins/Buttrey and a lower level lottery ticket be a good deal?

I actually love the idea of Dozier. Guy can really hit and is a great fit for Fenway Park with his swing.

I think if the Twins made Dozier available (which they should to open up a spot for Nick Gordon in the 2nd half), there would be a large number of suitors for him, esp in the NL, so the price would like be higher than a lotto ticket and RP. I do like the fit, and think even though he has struggled vs lefties this year (not typical for him) would sure up their two biggest deficiencies

Dozier is owed around 4.5 million and 2.5 million AAV wise for the rest of the season. The room is easily there for a trade.
By the the time the trade deadline comes, he'll be owed around 2 million AAV wise and 4 million in real money.
I agree with the post above that the Sox probably don't have enough to get this guy if the Twins are looking for prospects only.
It's too bad too, this guy could represent the best improvement the Sox could add at the deadline. The upgrade from Holt/Nunez to Dozier is so big WAR wise potentially. I think he could even top 2 extra wins if he came here for the final 2 months of the year.
He has one of the best swings for Fenway that I have ever seen. 50% pull percentage this year and 51% pull percentage in his career. I mean, please find a better swing than that, I dare you. Maybe Edwin Encarnacion, maybe.
I guess the best you can hope for is Phillips comes up and platoons if Pedrioa doesn't come back.
This is one of the only guys I would love to see the Sox go get in the off season regardless. Find a position for him, like LF if he isn't playing 2B when Pedrioa plays.

Would love to see Dozier here knowing Pedrioa is most likely done for the year even though nothing has been announced besides he still has inflammation and the Doctors don't know where it's coming from.
If you trade Nunez to match salaries, you could get Dozier if you are able to make a trade.

If Pedroia can’t come back I’d love Dozier but think any package would have to start with either Chavis or Groome. The Twins will want to get equivalent of a comp pick. The way their team is set I’d bet they would just assume keep him and hope he accepts a QO. They could be competing for the central next season and have Maur coming off the books.

I'd give up a package of Mike Shawaryn and a lottery ticket or two. That's probably equal or even better to the QO right now.

After doing my research I like Dozier. I think there's updide there, just depends on cost. Very low BAbip for example. I'd also look at Castro though his deal in 2019 isn't what we want. You could most likely trade him after the year. Those would be my two targets and I'd move sooner rather than later on getting one of them. All depends on cost really, but both would be a big upgrade. I was waiting on Pedroia, but with reports he might not play again this year, its time to make a move if the cost is right. I'm really intrigued what the lineup could look like adding these two and both are big upgrades over Nunez on D.
