Wow I missed this information. Pomeranz. That's where the Sox are going?
Well he won't see a important inning this series, at least he shouldn't.

Surprised at Pom over Johnson if you NEEDED a lefty.

I've gotta think that Wright's knee didn't bounce back very well the day after his sim game. All indications were that he was going to be added so he must have had some issues.

Literally the same as before. Well before, the penalty was that a player had to miss the next series. Now there is no real penalty. Could they simply plan to have Pomeranz available in the first two games and then replace him with Wright for game 3? That would be cheating

That would be cheating Possibly, depending on the actual rule, which is why I asked. It wouldn't have been cheating if they did it in the first two rounds. This is the only thing I've found: I would not be surprised to see a faked injury by either team.

I guess we'll just have to trust the coaching staff on Pomeranz. Maybe he looks electric in bullpen sessions or they figured out why his command is atrocious or something. He struck out 7/19 batters last time he was on the mound. Just grasping at straws here.

Cora speaking on WEEI right now. Said that Pomeranz has been pumping 93-94 in his bullpens recently and his curve is looking strong. Said he won't be used in high leverage but they've been waiting for the velocity to tick up all year and it finally happened.

Did he say anything about Wright or his lineup choices such as if he is (I hope not) going with Nunez over Devers?

I saw some video of Wright working on the field on Sunday...he was hobbling trying get to first base. He looks to be done for the year.
PS-Devers is starting at 3rd tonight and batting 6th in the lineup.

No disrespect to the grand speed of Flash Leon but i would guess Nunez or Swihart would be the pinch runner. I was being facetious. I know i just wanted to say Flash Leon

Christopher Smith Verified account @smittyonmlb
Alex Cora said on WEEI that Drew Pomeranz's velocity finally has increased. Red Sox have seen it during his bullpen sessions.

I just hope Cora has gotten over his Nuñez obsession. Apparently he's not...

I just hope Cora has gotten over his Nuñez obsession. Apparently he's not... He came to the Sox as a an ideal utility guy, a clubhouse guy with tons of energy and laughs. His reputation and stats say he was somewhat of a burner and good hitter with some pop, and spotty defense. Last season he was a second half dynamo, helping push the Sox to the postseason. But he got hurt, and played hurt until he couldn’t. This year, never fully recovered from those injuries, his weak defense at 2B became a liability, but for a while he stabilized 3B, got hurt again, and last night broke open the first game of the 2018 WS with a 3R golf shot into the Monster. Perfectly normal off the bench behavior for a catalyst called Nunie.
