They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

I'm never quite sure how to handle the Rays (or any team using THE OPENER) in these series threads. The point of listing starters is to point out the main pitching dude, not necessarily the one who is pitching first. So I wanted to throw it out to the crowd wisdom. Is listing both too busy? If so, would you rather just see the first pitcher listed, or the one who is scheduled to pitch the bulk with an asterisk or something?

If the Rays announce who is the piggyback, it is informative to give the two headed monster. Perhaps the larger question is: if the Rays have an “opener” but then someone like Beeks who might go twice through the order, do the Sox (or any opponent) arrange their lineup more for the second guy?

For me, it's all about game #3. The first two are flotsam.

The way you did it works well. I am glad to know when I should expect to see Jalen Beeks pitch, since he is the most interesting pitcher on the Rays staff for obvious reasons.

I like the way you listed the pitchers for the Rays. I am hoping that the Sox hitters went to school on Beeks (when he schooled them) and can exert a little payback tonight.
10 wins until 100 - let's start down that path tonight!

Ok, if people like that format I'll continue it.
I've listed Ryan Yarbrough following the opener on Saturday. Don't see it announced anywhere, but he pitched on Monday between Beeks and Snell, there's nothing about him hurt or being skipped, and he's been effective, so there's no reason to think it wouldn't be him. He's a pretty tough matchup.

I’m going to ask this because I don’t know how to easily look it up easily and I’m sure someone here does. What’s the worst 10 game stretch this team has had with wins and losses?

You can go to ESPN, team, and check schedule - www.espn.com/mlb/team/schedule/_/name/bos/boston-red-sox You can look at first or second half scores.

Just a thought leading into this series with 90 wins. Who would have thought that we would get significant contributions this year from guys named Eovaldi, Johnson, Velazquez, Poyner, Brasier, Walden, Kinsler, Nunez, Pearce....and a winning run by Renda.
AND - with Hanley gone, and Pedey playing hardly at all.
Amazing season in so many ways!
Play ball!

Velazquez' stuff is soooo mediocre, and that was an awful 0 - 2 pitch; and yet, jackie came so close to the catch of the year to save him.

would love to see Kinsler hit, after watching him hit for all these years. I think it will happen.

Pearce has to make that play.
Edit: Should have been out of this inning without a run.

I won't give up on the offense to get us back in, but Cora could also play this a loose tonight.
