They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

Like to get 3 here but the WS are --for them-- playing their best of the season. The sat. matchup should be the toughest but if Erod hangs a good return on them that should be a close game. Split ok but I'd like three W.

The Pale Hose aren't a good team and since they've have won 5 out of 6, I'm looking for a regression to the mean.I'd be shocked if Chicago wins 3 out of 4 or sweeps.Howeva, they did beat the MFY's 2 outta 3 and helped relieve some anxiety that was building after the Rays debacle.

Tough series against Rodon and Kopech with still no Sale. I wouldn't be unhappy with a split.

I gotta say. I'm so much more comfortable with a 7.5 game lead than I was on Monday morning after the Tampa series.

On the road, not throwing your two best starters, and facing the other team's top two starters, be satisfied and get out of there with a split. Barring something crazy, I'm far more concerned with how specific guys play over the next 3-4 weeks than the overall results. That's why despite the two wins over Miami, I'm not exactly pleased with the series, as the bullpen stunk, Price got hurt/wasn't pitching great, and Sale is still on the DL.
Glad that they're taking their time with Sale, likely going to take their time with Price, and they're getting Rodriguez back, plus maybe Wright shortly. Plus Devers and Vazquez, and maybe a slim chance of Pedroia. Kinsler has been solid, and far better than Nunez starting at 2B every day, but I'd still like to at least see the option of Pedroia, even if it's a long shot.

Sox can wait him out, have him out very early. I wouldn't be so sure. Kopech has been a strike-throwing machine lately, and if he's figured that out, his stuff is major league plus. Not to mention his fastball is plus-plus, amongst the best average velocity-wise and rotation-wise in the bigs already.

From what Eric said earlier, he's getting too much of the plate. That works against weaker hitters.

From what Eric said earlier, he's getting too much of the plate. That works against weaker hitters. I watched his first game — not his second. So maybe I’m wrong. But his command was bad both ways. He would get too much on many strikes, and he’d miss badly on many balls. His pitch count is high, even if he hasn’t walked anyone. But yes... there are a hell of a lot of pluses attached to his stuff, and even though I think he needs more development, he could also put it all together any fame, I’m sure.

Please let the good Rick Porcello show up tonight. Hate these later games. But I guess I'm spoiled as an east coast fan.
Giolito has been better recently, but they were 2 games against the Tigers and 1 against the Twins. Big deal. He got blown up by the Yankees 4 starts ago.

Straight fastballs don't cut it. Where is sinker groundball Porcello?

This is the Giolito who has a nearly 6.00 ERA and 5.50 xFIP? Sheesh.

There has been exactly one hard hit ball that Porcello has given up, the HR. The walk was undeserved because the ump missed strike 3.

Porcello is what he is: a solid above average starter with the occasional gem and occasional stinker.

Yep. History shows when he doesn’t have it he never recovers Seriously you don't remember him start retiring like 15 in a row after a start like this? He does it more than anyone.

I understand that our 2 best starters (even tho I think E-Rod was on his way to being a 1B) will not be here for this series, but our lineup is 10 times better than this lineup. IDC if bad Porcello is here tonight, get him out and score some runs here and in every game. But what I love is how we are so worried about Kopech, when it should be he that should be worried about facing us.

What the hell was Nunez doing on that tag? All he had to do is stand in front of the base and he's out by a mile.
