Folks, this is the irony of this team. They are 92-42, but it simply doesn't look like a team anywhere near that calibre. At this point they have NO sure thing at starter - Sale's health uncertain, now Price uncertain, Porcello inconsistent, ERod has to work his way back into form, Eovaldi has come back to earth, Johnson is who he is. 3B has to be figured out. C is still an offensive black hole unless/until Swihart has the kid gloves removed, JBJ is who he is -- maybe he'll really go on a tear, or maybe he'll go back into a funk. Moreland is injured for now. Pedroia is -- well who knows what he may ever be again. The pen has all sorts of uncertainties.
This just doesn't add up to an historic team at this point, regardless of what their record says.

What the hell was Nunez doing on that tag? All he had to do is stand in front of the base and he's out by a mile. That play tells you all you need to know about where the Red Sox mental state is at right now. The guy was out by 10 feet. If you can't apply the tag your mind is in vacation mode. Lets hope they can get through this phase and wake up.

True but I don't care about the Yankees. We need to worry about US, and stop letting this AAA team run all over us. We are better than this. It feels like we have to come from behind almost every game.

I view this as the baseball gods being against teams being this good. They're getting some crap BABIP luck lately. They've had a ton of injuries compared to most historically good teams. I'm only worried about October, not now. The outcome of these games are almost meaningless.

Yep. History shows when he doesn’t have it he never recovers Seriously you don't remember him start retiring like 15 in a row after a start like this? He does it more than anyone. Not only that.. If the bats don't start to do something, no point in annihilating the bully. Get somebody warm, and hope for the best.

We’ve seen that seveal times before leading up to and during the play-offs.

I read something on twitter from Red Sox Stats that we were like 1st in balls hit in the strike zone (April to All Star break) and since 27th.

Still ridiculously bad luck. Porcello's xFIP in this game is 3.14. .714 BABIP for the White Sox so far. Very little hit hard.

The game wasn't over, but Porcello is going to make sure that doesn't last very long.

The game wasn't over, but Porcello is going to make sure that doesn't last very long. Agree, but that's where Cora has to step in. Dude can't even strike out Moncada and Giolito is no hitting us, lol. Only one person is hitting over 250 and only 1 person has a 750 OPS.

Dude can't even strike out Moncada and Giolito is no hitting us, lol. It's more likely that Porcello stops giving up cheap hits than it is for someone else to come in and help win this game. They rode the BP pretty hard yesterday and there's no long man available.

So.... still panicking around here? Sale is hurt, but unless people are lying, will be fine. Price sounds ok. ERod is coming soon. The lead is holding. Some guys are banged up, and Cora wisely appears to want to get them healthy rather than make a run for meaningless milestones so we are at our best in October. I am not psyched that Porcello is off. I am not psyched Kimbrel is off. But they have a month to fine tune. .... and Devers is coming!!!!

Man Benintendi has been a hot mess for a while now. Imagine how much more you'd have to complain about if the Red Sox were only 30 games over .500 instead of 50. You never do anything but complain. Look at your post history.

Seriously, Benintendi is an absolute black hole right now.
He needs to either take a few days off or move out of the 2 hole.

Well, the good news is that we are probably done seeing this pitcher - 101 pitches. As for the pale Sox pen...we just gotta get to them.
the bad news for tonight -we are hitting them where they are.

The key words there are "right now." Everybody, just ignore the storm clouds on the horizon. It hasn't rained in awhile. What could possibly happen? I've been following this franchise for 62 years now. I know when they are on fumes, and this team is running on fumes and ace bandages right now.
