None of the affiliates made the playoffs. Between past trades, injuries, suspensions and even tragedy (Flores) this was truly a down year in the minors. Let's hope for a nice rebound in 2019!

Some of our top pitching prospects pitching today. Yes, a down year, but some really good individual performances.

Trey Ball next big bat in the org Maybe it works out for him and best of luck. Devon Fisher has been doing ok in reverse position change.. Catcher to reliever and Weems not bad same thing. Never know how it will work out, sometimes these guys will turn it around you know? 1st I remember was my friend Danny Weppner, many-a-decade ago, who was a really good LH pitcher that hurt his arm and tried to come back as an OF in the Sox system.. had to throw that in..

Something to remember with Trey Ball for the last two games: normally when guys go through a position change they go to something like instructs or spring training or at best the GCL. None of those were available to Trey so he went straight to AA after not swinging a bat in a game in years. Not surprising at all to see him struggle in his first couple of games.

Kingston Nolan Liniak homered for the Connecticut Tigers today. The nephew of Pawtucket (and briefly Chicago Cubs) 3B Cole Liniak...

Lowell ended the season on a high note with a walk off single by Juan Carlos Abreu in the 10th inning. On to 2019.

Thank you iakovos and the other dudes who posted this amazing thread daily. You're legends. To celebrate this sad day, why don't we share our favorite downer songs? Damn that hurts

Don’t be sad that it’s over. Be glad that it happened (and that we were introduced to GOAT athlete Jarren Duran)

That's an absolutely fantastic song, Lanegan is such an underrated songwriter.

Never say never, I suppose. But McCoy seems like an odd fit for a short-season A team. It's still built on a swamp, and whatever infrastructure deficiencies were identified in the ballpark assessment are now public record (so if concrete falls on someone's head on the left field stairs it's going to be a pretty clear-cut liability issue). I'm not sure you're going to get people buying suites at field level to watch fresh-faced high school graduates, and I think the lack of intimacy from the grandstands is a bigger deal with the youngsters (fans and players). And Lowell has an ideal arrangement with the UMass dorms as far as having housing, dining and workout facilities a block away from the ballpark for the team. McCoy does have ample parking and a covered concourse, I suppose.

That's an absolutely fantastic song, Lanegan is such an underrated songwriter. He is indeed, though he can't take songwriting credits on this one. It's an old French tune and pop standard that Johnny Mercer wrote an English translation of back in the '40's. Nat King Cole and Andy Williams both have outstanding versions.
