Kelly is just proof that stuff without command equals wild inconsistency. You just can't depend on him.

Kelly was so lights out earlier, bad luck here, sure, but I don't if we will see that guy again.

this bp might get exposed in the playoffs ... all of Kimbrel, Hembree, Kelly, and Barnes have walks per 9 of over 4.
against good teams that lack of control will kill you.

christian vazquez ladies and gentelmen That's kinda harsh to expect that play to be made. That would have been a miracle stop. It is and it isn't. Terrible pitch. But he has no business trying to reach out and pick that one - get down and try to block it. He tries to pick all the time and is often burned by his belief in his defensive abilities...

The offense will have to provide a cushion because I don't have faith this bullpen can hold close games against the playoff teams.

The only way a catcher stops that ball is if it hits him squarely in the face mask and bounces forward. But yeah, we're in bitchy mode now so time to go.

i know a reliever that's pitching well....Ty Buttrey; o wait. (I love Kinsler but would've preferred not giving up a guy who was striking out over 13/9 innings in AAA with good control).

But given Christian vazquez and his history of being vastly overrated defensively we all might overreact when a ball gets past him.

Who knows if he keeps it in front of him if he gets down to block it - but at least he would have given himself a shot. It was bad on both of them period. Absolving Vazquez is as idiotic as blaming him entirely... As for comparing CV to the other C's - let me know when either tries to pick a spiked breaking ball...

98 mph to the pitcher ends the inning. Harder than everything except Bregman's single last inning.
