Perhaps Swihart should get some reps at 1B as well. If Leon or Vazquez is catching there is no reason to have to huge holes in the lineup.

Glass half full - we are getting familiar with a team we could very well meet in the playoffs. We are getting a better idea of our bullpen arms. Mookie, JDM, Xander are in a good place with the bat, and Price (and hopefully we will see today, ERod) with the ball. JBJ is what he is...who knows. Porcello is what he is - more good than bad. We get to see Sale in a few days. Benny seems to be getting over his funk. All teams are banged up - We have 20 games to get things worked out and lined up for the playoffs.
And yes, a win today would be nice!

I prefer to look at the positives Price was outstanding. I still do not understand not giving Lakins a look at this time. I am sure they have a logical reason.

Lineup for today's game
Mookie Betts, RF Andrew Benintendi, LF J.D. Martinez, DH Xander Bogaerts, SS Mitch Moreland, 1B Ian Kinsler, 2B Rafael Devers, 3B Christian Vazquez,C Jackie Bradley Jr., CF
We are a Pearce and a Swihart away from a maximum potential offense...hoping Moreland can work out of his funk.

Not at all thrilled that Vazquez has been getting as much playing time as he has, at the expense of Leon and Swihart. To me, he’s the clear third-string catcher. I just hope this doesn’t represent Cora’s plan for the playoffs

Christopher Smith Verified account @smittyonmlb
Cora wants all his pitchers to feel comfortable with all three catchers. "Because you never know what can happen," Cora said. "We're not talking about roster decisions because that's still a ways to go, but injuries happen. Just like Christian went down."

Red Sox's Alex Cora on catchers and Leon's slump: "If we feel that we should play someone else because we need offense, then we'll do that." Leon has gone hitless since Aug. 23.

Blake Swihart 'mostly likely' will catch Red Sox's Rick Porcello on Sunday as Sandy Leon continues to slump with bat

Key game, Jim Ed. Plan on a nyy win tonite Seriously you're worried? If the Yankees go 21-0 to finish the season, the Red Sox have to go 13-9 to win the division. If they realistically go 14-7, the Red Sox need to go 6-16. If the Red Sox can't win the division, they also aren't doing anything in the playoffs, regardless. There is nothing in the previous 142 games of this season to indicate that there's some kind of lingering irrecoverable issue that has never shown itself.

ERod is pitching like a CY Young contender. If Price, Sale and ERod pitch like they have, I just don't see how they don't win it all.

I love how Benny has been going the other way beating the shift over and over again.

I have a rule: If Kelly comes in to pitch, I shut the TV off for about 15 minutes and go do something else. Then turn it back on to see the damage. I need to adopt a dog so I can go walk it when Kelly comes in.

It is awesome that Cora is finally open to letting Swihart catch some of the better pitchers on this staff. He's earned it.

what a great hit by X. I felt last nights game changed when the ump screwed him with the bases loaded.
