They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). Hous has tiebreaker over Sox and over Cleve Therefore, Sox magic number is 2 And Cleveland cannot be #2 seed. Locked into 3. Cleveland can still get WS homefield
Boring.
NL has more interesting weekend

I just read a column about the hangover lineup that the Sox are anticipated to throw out there today, but with Sale on the mound I'm wondering if they will really do that. I think a much more likely time for a catch-as-catch-can lineup is Sunday, when who-the-heck-knows will be the SP and a bullpen parade is likely to follow.

Today's posted lineup has Leon catching and Swihart in RF.
It's inexcusable that Swihart isn't catching - especially given Cora's line about having him catch all the starters before the end of the season.
This team's "A" lineup clearly includes Swihart behind the plate, and he should be getting as many reps as possible before playoff time. Baffling.

Random Sox thought I was having today while I was working on my swaddle game. The prospect of Blake Swihart being this teams starting catcher has been on a roller coaster the last few years. Back at the beginning of 2016, I thought Swihart would edge out Vasquez for the catcher of the future. By the beginning of this year, I wondered if he could even bring back any value in a trade. Now, all of a sudden, his prospect of a being a Red Sox into the foreseeable future has just gone up tenfold.

The lineup today is laugh out loud funny Cora should give Porcello and Brian Johnson a start each at the DH slot so we could finaly settle down who's the best hitting pitcher on the roster.

It seems like a silly wasted opportunity to not let more of our starters see a P they could easily face in the playoffs in the next couple of weeks. One Cleveland is not choosing to miss.
In particular, Benny and Xander each got starts off this week, in addition to the off day. Seems like they should be in there. And, if Moreland is going to be a starter in the postseason, he should be getting some ABs to try to get going.

The funniest thing about a throwing out a hangover lineup is that the guys in the hangover lineup are hungover too.

if Holt stays hot for the playoffs that will be a big plus. You could see him getting starts at 3rd.

Interesting strategy by Cora tonight, putting zero outfielders in the lineup.

Sale looking nasty with that slider The slider looks great. I'm a bit concerned that he hasn't been able to crank that velocity up there.

I guess we wont know, because they won't be saying one way or another No they won't. But I can't imagine he wouldn't try to crank a couple up as he attempts to get into postseason shape. My question would be more whether it's he can't because of the arm or the hangover.

The lineup today is laugh out loud funny Well, I was wrong about a representative lineup to back up Sale. Probably because he isn't going to pitch long enough to qualify for a win, they don't care.

I'm glad he left him out there. I think the whole thing of pulling him well before he hit his pitch count and then letting him throw in the pen wasn't getting him game-ready. I think that 3rd inning was the most important inning in getting him ready.

It’s great seeing Sale relaxed and happy in the dugout. You never usually see that when he pitches
