They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). Either Jimmy Yacabonis or Sean Gilmartin will start the second game.
I don't know if the Orioles are the worst team I've ever seen - those 2003 Tigers were really atrocious. But they are by FAR the worst team I've ever seen that didn't seem to know ahead of time that they would be bad. They treated last offseason as if they were a contender. How Dan Duquette hasn't been fired I cannot comprehend.
I mean, my god, "I think this Orioles roster is close to the playoffs, but what would push us closer is Andrew Cashner" is a thing that happened.

I hope Cora puts out his playoff lineup and gets them to focus. No more messing around and giving guys too much rest. Playoffs are next week, time to lock in.

This is 3 game series they suppose to win and break the team record as 118 yr franchise history. No excuse. Houston have been playing winning mental team so far this month (16-4) while the Sox got so-so by going 12-8 and allowed Houston, NYY and Cleveland to take 2 of 3 series from them. It's wrong attitude. They are playoffs teams that the Red Sox would face them. They need to stop play as losing mental. Alex kept giving the players day offs and still losing the series. It's same fate as 2016 & 2017 team by losing final week and flamed out of playoffs.
I wanted them to send the Yankees to Oakland instead of their home by winning the series in upcoming final weekend. I like Oakland chances by sending the Yankees home early by eliminate them. I need TB and RS to make this happening.

At the end of the say I trust Cora to do what's right to make sure all the players are as ready for the playoffs as possible. But with 4 days off after the regular season ends, it sure seems like getting rusty and out of rhythm is a bigger danger than not being well-rested enough.

I guess you could defend the Cashner signing as one where they could flip him if he had trade value. Cobb was the worst signing though because there was very little chance that any team wanted that contract. In fact, no team did until the Orioles signed him.

The last time this Sox team played in a bunch of games that didn't mean anything and rested their players, it was spring training. They proceeded to win 17 of the first 18 games of the season.
If we lose in the playoffs, there's gonna be an excuse no matter what Cora does this week. If he plays everyone this week and tries to win, it's gonna be, "we lost because the guys were overworked." If he gives them rest, it will be "we lost because we didn't have an edge."
Please tell me the exact amount of innings played for each player this week to guarantee optimal success of winning the World Series.

Brock is looking so good. I, among others, was hoping for a DFA earlier in the year. LOL.

As far as who plays and who rests, and who plays where when (it makes sense...read it a few times), I trust Cora. Period. this is nowhere near the 2016 or 2017 team. Cora is as far from Farrell as can be in his management technique, style, approach.
Last year's team has grown up - we have a leader. It is Mookie.
We will be fine in the playoffs - ready, and as well equipped in terms of roster decisions as possible.

this team has more guys that can play at an elite level, than any baseball team I have ever seen. It is baseball, so there is no permanence with the elite level (except for Mookie), but so many guys can get on a hot streak and look good. It is amazing.

Does this mean that ERod is in the pen and Eovaldi is going to be starting in playoffs ? I haven't read anything.

From what Cora said, it will be all about match ups - depending upon which team we end up playing. I think he is working to be comfy with either Eovaldi or ERod starting or coming out of the pen.

Davis was the killer here which didn't help the under performing starting staff. Davis will be the gift that keeps on giving. I also don't think Douquette has the final say.
