They're meant to be a lot less formal than other threads on the forum, so to moderate them the same way would be silly. However, we do ask posters to maintain a certain level of decorum in these threads, and we plan on moderating the Gameday threads a little more actively this season. In particular, we ask that posters refrain from being overly repetitive with their posts (if you've made your point, let it go), refrain from monopolizing the discussion (if you are making more than a couple posts in a row, you probably need to slow down a little bit), and of course, follow the Ground Rules ( link). The point is to make these threads worth participating in and fun for all posters, from our long-time fixtures to people just signing up today. -The Management

The Brewers made it to the NLCS with that lineup of starting pitching? That's amazing.

The Dodgers pitching seems to have a bit of an edge here.

Geeze, go Brewers. I would rather face them than the Dodgers, by a landslide.

Is Roberts going to get the Aaron Boone treatment?

Today's game is an example of why they play the games.

Is Roberts going to get the Aaron Boone treatment? When they play in Boston ? He'll get a standing O before we want to thrash his team. By the media/fans ? He doesn't manage for New York (or Boston or Philadelphia for that matter)

Horrid called strike on Turner with two on. It may be just bad umpiring but it can't help but come across as home town favoritism.

Outside of Woodruff, Hader & Maeda, there wasn't much to be impressed with for either side's relievers.
I am also wondering about Kershaw's health. Maybe it's just me but he didn't seem to throw many fastballs and overall looked pretty pedestrian. I think he's the pitcher of the generation but I wonder about his opt out and if he does chose to utilize it, if the Yankees will be taking on an albatross.

There's about the same chance he opts out as there is that Price does. Price and Kershaw should also serve as red flags to signing Sale to a long term >30mm/year contract.

Pretty pathetic display there from Machado. Looked like he could've been safe if he had any hustle.

Wade Miley doing a better Clayton Kershaw impression than Clayton Kershaw - on both sides of the ball.

Those were two great games. I missed virtually all of the NL DS games (first time in a few years) but I'm really glad I scored ever pitch of these.
As much as I love Dave Roberts, I can't bring myself to root for a team whose fans didn't even sell out their DS games and whose ballpark for game 163 sounded like they were playing the Padres in May. Plus, Travis Shaw was one of the guys I championed and I'm still rooting for him.

The Brewers made it to the NLCS with that lineup of starting pitching? That's amazing. It's also pretty cool how, after a winter where all everyone did was complain about the plight of tanking in MLB, the Brewers successfully executed a no-rebuild rebuild.

As an aside, I think the real prize in the Marlins' giveaway was Yelich, not Stanton. He's a better runner, hitter, and outfielder - just a better all-around athlete. He's also younger and cost-controlled right to 2022 when the team can exercise a $15 million option to keep him around one more year. He could be auctioned off then or re-signed, perhaps before that comes to pass. That's about as valuable as it gets in baseball given the way he's matured into the great player a lot of people thought was in there.

Remember when we wondered if Shaw could handle the transition to 3B? He looks way better than Nunez at 2B.

Manny Machado with his second slide at the knees into second. Both times he went for the knee with his hands instead of spiking. He's going to incite another brawl.

What the Brewers did on arriving at Chavez Ravine in a tied NLCS is exactly what the Sox hopefully do on arriving at Minute Maid in a tied ALCS.
