I was reading some of the forecasting for the MVP awards and saw that the traditional Triple Crown was mentioned in some - i.e. if JD Martinez won it he would've been a much more likely MVP, or MVP finalist. Being that the Triple Crown was more of a gimmick based on legacy counting stats, I started toying with the idea of what a legit Triple Crown would be. Does this work if we are to keep it to the gimmick of 3 measures?
OBP/ISO/HR
What do y'all think?
This year in the AL, that would give you: OBP: Trout, Martinez, Betts, Bregman ISO: Trout, Davis, Martinez, Betts HR: Davis, Martinez, Gallo, Trout

Times on Base: Trout, Bregman, Ramirez Total Bases: Martinez, Lindor, Betts wRC+: Trout, Betts, Martinez
Gives two counting stat and a decent catch-all rate state. Iso and HR are too interconnected.
EDIT: Here the NL, for purposes of being complete: Times on Base: Freeman, Harper, Goldschmidt Total Bases: Yelich, Story, Baez wRC+: Yelich, Nimmo, Goldschmidt

Does this work if we are to keep it to the gimmick of 3 measures? Probably not, because the natural progression of advanced statistics for offense is to collapse everything into one number. If we absolutely need a "new triple crown", I'd probably cast my vote for the classic ave/obp/slg slash line. I feel like there's a reasonable balance of tradition and modernity there.

How about league MVP, League Championship MVP, and World Series MVP? Just kidding. Nobody would ever win the triple crown that way. I think Mike Schmidt gave that a run in 1980, though but Manny Trillo got the NLCS MVP.
I prefer BA/OBP/SA as triple crown to BA/HR/RBI.

BA, ISO(D), and ISO(P) would give you three non-redundant metrics

All great ideas, baseball doesn't need no stinkin' typical fan interest anyways.
